Check Out Akshay Kumar teaching karate

Image
It is a known fact that Akshay Kumar is a great martial artist. He is a sixth degree Black Belt in Kuyukai Gojuryu Karate. In his early days, Akki studied martial arts in Hong Kong and was also a martial art instructor. It was during his stint as a martial arts instructor that one of his students suggested him to take up modeling and then one thing lead to another and Bollywood got its biggest action star in Akshay Kumar. Akki posted a picture on twitter of himself during his days as a martial arts instructor. Sharing this picture, Akshay tweeted, “Walking down memory lane...Can you guess the man on the left :) The young boy on the right was one of my best karate students & the grandson of my Godfather, Pramod Chakravorty

Shahid meets Sir Don Bradman

Image
Shahid Kapoor was recently seen promoting his upcoming film in Singapore at the IIFA awards. Later, the actor along with costar Priyanka Chopra and director Kunal Kohli took off to Australia to promote  Teri Meri Kahaani . Apart from learning the rules and trying his hand at Australian football, Shahid even visited the Melbourne Cricket Ground Museum. Prior to the launch of the International Indian Film Festival, Shahid was spotted posing with the statue of Don Bradman. Tweeting about he says, “My bradman moment at the mcg museum†. We hope that like the cricketing legend, Kapoor’s film too makes records.

We are finally getting our due - Sajid-Wajid

The duo has shown versatility right from their debut song, the evergreen ' Teri Jawani Badi Mast Mast Hai ' in  Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya  way back in 1998. But the low-profile sons of legendary tabla player Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan with a maternal and paternal lineage of much-honoured musicians (Ustad Abdul Latif Khan, their paternal grandfather and Ustad Faiyyaz Ahmed Khan, their maternal granddad) took a long time to reach where they deserved, despite Salman Khan's unflinching support. The musical record was consistent -  Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai  (2002),  Chori Chori  (2003),  Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004),  Partner  (2007),  Wanted  and  Main Aur Mrs Khanna  (2009) and  Veer  (2010), a score compared to classics like  Kranti  for its sheer mix of grandeur and intense melody with today's sound.  The tide turned only in mid-2010 with  Dabangg , which brought back great melody, intense lyrics and songs lip-synched in the classic Hindi film manner in a scenario corroded and benu

"Farah is a born actress" - Bela Bhansali Sehgal

Image
Farah Khan and Boman Irani recount embarrassingly funny incidents while shooting for Bela Bhansali Sehgal's  Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi On location   Filmmaker Bela Bhansali Sehgal fulfilled her long cherished dream of working with Boman Irani and Farah Khan when she cast this unusual pair in her directorial debut,  Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi .  Though this comedy is Farah's first film as an actress, the director Bela claims, "Farah is a born actress. She really respected me as a director but she would always fight for the light and the Director Of Photography (DOP) would be exasperated." Farah laughs, "I was overcritical of myself. I would look at the monitor and ask the DOP to light me more from one particular side."  Meanwhile, her co-star Boman Irani, had his embarrassing moments on the sets of this film. In one scene, Boman is shown scantily clad wrapped only in a towel. Coincidentally, on the day of that scene's shoot, Farah's moth

Salman landed on Sunday to attend Dads dinner - Ramcharan

Ramcharan talks about his wedding preparations and more  So the Big Day is around the corner?  Yup, I can't tell you what it is like. My wife Upaasna-she is already my wife in my mind and heart-and I are partying and attending poojas every night and catching up on some sleep during the day.  When and where is the wedding?  Well, the first wedding is on June 14, morning at Upaasna's farm-house which we've converted into a banquet hall. And then the second wedding is the next morning at the same venue.  Please explain?  The wedding on June 14 is for family and friends. That's expected to be attended by around 4000 people. Then the same evening we're hosting a reception for around 7,000 guests. The next morning, on June 15, we'll go through another wedding followed by lunch for my fans. We expect 4,000 people. But I suspect there will be a lot more people. And wait... It doesn't end there. On June 15 evening, we're hosting a reception for the staff and fami

Akshay tries his hand at functional training

Image
Akshay Kumar, who is riding high after the super success of  Rowdy Rathore , visited a new revolutionary training and fitness centre- The Hive Gym which opened this month on 3rd June at Versova, Mumbai. Akki also tried his hand at some of the functional training equipment the very day 'The Hive Gym' was launched. Akshay, who is known for having the fittest body in Bollywood, constantly encourages youth to use their bodies and not just their brains and get out there and get fit while they still can. He has always believed that functional training is a more natural way of exercising to improve the body for daily activities, giving it better muscular balance, joint stability and physical agility.

Rowdy Rathore is the kind of film I used to clap and cheer for as a child - Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Image
Rowdy Rathore  is being seen as a work of compromised art by people who expect you to make  Devdas, Black  and  Guzaarish ?  Why would I only produce the films that I'd want to direct myself? Why shouldn't I produce the kind of films that perhaps somewhere I enjoy watching, have grown up watching? My father (Naveen Bhansali) produced a film called Jahaji Lootera . It was a fun potboiler featuring the swashbuckling hero of those times Jairaj. It was like  The Pirates of The Caribbean  of those times. Somewhere in my subconscious  Jahaji Lootera  has remained embedded. It has now surfaced in  Rowdy Rathore . But critics who associate you with the aesthetics of  Black  are shocked?  Luckily all kinds of films are being made today. But the one genre that continues its successful run is the potboiler. It cuts across all sections of the audience.  Rowdy Rathore  is the kind of film I used to clap and cheer for as a child at Alankar Talkies and Imperial Talkies like. Last week when I

SRK talks on his IPL win movies and more

Image
"In a 50 over match, there is enough time to rectify your mistakes, in a 20-20, there isn't. It's unpredictable. That's the beauty of the game." That was proud team owner Shah Rukh Khan speaking passionately to a group of mediapersons about cricket. Well, as it turns out, T 20 cricket and all that's associated with it, is a little like that. Just days ago, Khan was in the midst of a raging controversy about flouting MCA rules and before you could say 'not out', he was part of the IPL's winning team! Truth be told, the mercurial star is a bit like the game - one can never predict his next move. For starters, he's reported to have picked up stakes in the football club Dempo. And all talks of selling his stakes in KKR have been put to rest what with the impressive victory. If at all, he would like a sports outfit like ManU to buy stakes in the team to make it even more professional.  But for the time being, the star is happy praising KKR captain

I have never rejected any offer due to its Western sensibilities - Sonakshi

Image
Dabangg  stays on to be one of the biggest hits of Salman Khan. However, it also gave Bollywood a leading lady in the form of Sonakshi Sinha. Though she had minimal role to play in the film, there has been a graduation of sorts that she has enjoyed in  Rowdy Rathore . Though the film is again being hailed as a huge win for its men - Akshay Kumar and Prabhudheva - a fact that cannot be ignored is that with this even Sonakshi Sinha now has enjoyed two back to back huge successes with two 100 crore grosser in a row. Over to the girl who is indeed looking for some far more fabulous times ahead if her line up of films is any indication.  Guess you have been enjoying some really engaged and excited times, isn't it? It has been a great year work wise. I am blessed to achieve so much in so little time. For someone who did not want to become an actor and had stayed away from it despite coming from a filmy background, it has been a very joyful ride.  Dabangg  happened accidentally and look

Shootout would do for me what Vaastav did for MrDutt - John

Image
Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Gupta had a massive fall-out after which the Dutt and Gupta camps became seriously polarized. For obvious reasons the Dutt camp was star-studded while Gupta had to struggle for two years after his professional and professional breakup with Dutt to put his next project together. Finally it all came together for Gupta when Anil Kapoor and John Abraham set the ball rolling by agreeing to be part of Gupta's Shootout At Wadala. John gets deeply emotional when talking about Gupta who stood by the star when he was almost denied bail and sent to jail for a road offence. Says John defiantly, "I'm going to stand by Sanjay Gupta. I'll work with him as many times as he wants me to. Everyone in this industry is opportunistic, and justifiably so. When I was in a crisis, Sanjay Gupta stood by my side like a rock. When I was in court I felt all alone. There were twenty cops surrounding me and there were these two young girls who work for me trying to s

Satyamev Jayate - Be Proud To Be Hatke

Image
The birth of a child is considered to be one of the most joyous occasions in a couple's life. And equally devastating can be the situation when the parents realize that their child is not able to see or hear or speak or move his/her limbs. Our society is not very friendly to this section of population and thus begins a long battle for the parent and the child to be able to blend in with the 'normal' people. Satyamev Jayate, in the sixth episode, throws light on such people, the problems they faced and how they have excelled despite difficulties. Compared to the previous episodes, the latest episode was less negative in the sense that it didn't delve much into the wrongdoings of the society and government regarding the disabled. Instead, a major part of the episode focused on the unbelievable achievements by the handicaps. Interesting watch! The episode commences with the introduction of Sai Prasad Vishwanathan, who went for skydiving, a huge feat for someone who
