Real Housewives of New Jersey premiere: Family Schamily

Image
the real housewives of new jerseyBlood might be thicker than water, but the drama tossed around on the premiere of The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season Three was as dense with disbelief as anything to ever come across the Real Housewives franchise. Why? Because it involved the destruction of a family, which was entertaining for some, but sad and painful for others to watch. The premiere began with a taste of the infamous brawl that took place at new cast member Melissa Gorga's son's christening, but cut quickly back to a week earlier to show what lead to the fight between the Gorgas, the Giudices, and just about everyone else in attendance. Unless you haven't been keeping up with the gossip, Teresa is not in good standing with her brother Joey and his wife Melissa. Even Teresa and Joey's first cousin (and newcomer to the series) Kathy Wakile has some issues with Teresa as well, but they aren't as bad as the bad blood between Teresa, Joey and Melissa. Within

Breaking In Preview: Season Finale "21.0 Jump Street"

Image
Breaking In has been canceled. At least, it was canceled until the internet got wind of this news and got angry. The show has fairly decent ratings and a lot of people didn't understand why it was cut from the Fox schedule. So Fox is actually giving it one more chance, and all Breaking In fans need to answer the call. Mike Tyson will be making a guest appearance on the Breaking In season finale, which has been moved to Tuesday, May 17 at 9:31 p.m. ET. The team is heading back to high school in the episode. After being hired to discover the identity of a cyber-bully, the team goes undercover at a high school in an attempt to draw the bully out and discover his/her identity. They're actually heading back to Cameron's old high school, where he's forced to relive his hellish high school days. Michael Rosenbaum will be making a guest appearance as Dutch and Trevor Moore will be appearing as Josh. If the ratings for the May 17 season finale do well enough, Fox may r

Terra Nova: First Full-Length Trailer for Fox's Prehistoric New Drama

Image
Fox's new drama, Terra Nova , has had a few setbacks.  It was originally supposed to debut last year, but got pushed back to midseason and then again to Fall 2011.  Given the scope of this show, it's not hard to see why. A 30 second trailer first appeared after the Superbowl, but now Fox has released a trailer that's over 2 minutes long, giving us our first real glimpse at the size and scale of this new drama.  Terra Nova is originally set in 2149, where humans have basically destroyed the planet.  Fortunately, scientists have discovered a crack in the time-space continum that allows them to travel back in time.  So the decision is made to send humans back to prehistoric times to resettle among the dinosaurs. Naturally, that goes about as well as you can imagine.  Now mankind is placed within a very hostile time period with enemies who are far larger than we are.  Think Jurassic Park . The show focuses primarily on the Shannon family.  Jim and Elisabeth Sha

The Finder: First Look at Fox's New Midseason Drama

Image
The characters on The Finder were introduced on a recent episode of Bones , and the episode got a good enough reception that Fox has decided to add this Bones spin-off to its midseason schedule. The Finder stars Geoff Stults as Walter Sherman, an Iraq War veteran who was injured by an exploding bomb.  After waking up from a coma, Sherman was discharged and returned home with brain damage and a new skill: the uncanny ability to locate anyone or any thing.  In other words, he's now a "Finder". Sherman continues to use his skills.  In fact, his first job after being discharged was tracking down the missing daughter of the CIA chief.  Sherman eventually settled in Key West, Florida, where he met Ike Latulippe (Saffron Burrows, Law & Order: Criminal Intent ) and Leo Knox (Michael Clarke Duncan, The Green Mile ).  Both Leo and Ike have their own mysterious and somewhat traumatic pasts to contend with. Below is the first video look at The Finder , along with some

Alcatraz: First Look at Fox's New Midseason Drama

Image
J.J. Abrams will be bringing another show to Fox this winter.  Abrams, along with Elizabeth Sarnoff (Lost and Deadwood) will produce Alcatraz , a new drama about the United States's most famous prison.  Expect a large ensemble cast to be involved in this show.  Here's the premise: San Francisco Police Department Detective Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones, Sons of Anarchy ) is assigned to solve a homicide case.  But there's a twist: a fingerprint at the scene leads her to a suspect - Jack Sylvane (guest star Jeffrey Pierce, The Nine ), who was an Alcatraz inmate.  Except Sylvane actually died decades ago. Madsen has a connection to the prison: her grandfather and surrogate uncle were once guards at Alcatraz.  She launches into her investigation, but is hampered along the way by  government agent Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill, Jurassic Park and The Tudors ).  But Madsen is determined and asks Alcatraz expert and comic book enthusiast, Dr. Diego "Doc" Soto (Jorge

Tonight On Castle: Season 3 Finale "Knockout"

Image
The day Castle fans around the world have been anxiously waiting for has finally arrived. The season 3 finale, entitled "Knockout", is scheduled to air tonight at 10pm and the excitement in the fandom is almost palpable. "Knockout" will revisit the storyline of Detective Kate Beckett's mother's murder as new evidence will come to surface regarding the case. Emotions will be flying all over the place as this is the one thing capable of shaking up Beckett so thoroughly that she can completely lose her cool. In case you need to refresh your memory, the last time the show dealt with this case was earlier this season in the now iconic episode "Knockdown". By the end of that episode, a hit man hired by whoever is behind the conspiracy surrounding Johanna Beckett's death, ended up in jail. He killed the detective that was the lead on Kate's mom's case when he tried to reach out to Beckett with new information about her mother's death.

Game of Thrones Promo: Episode 6 "A Golden Crown"

Image
I'm debating reading Game of Thrones, if only to keep one step ahead of the cliffhangers at the end of each episode of the show. Last night's episode of Game of Thrones saw Ned continuing his investigation into John Arryn's death, but next Sunday's episode will have him realizing a shocking fact (for him, not for the audience) and the repercussions could be enormous. After being reinstated as the King's Hand, Ned also hears complaints from citizens while King Robert is on a hunt and then decides to issue a decree that could have the kingdoms suffering from long-term consequences. At the Eyrie, Tyrion continues to be held prisoner, but after making a deal with his guard, he is brought before Lysa and her crazy son and demands a trial by combat. Will Tyrion's wits get him out of his current imprisonment? Viserys continues to grow more and more demanding as Daenerys continues to settle into her new marriage and pregnancy. After demanding that Drogo finally

Awake: First Look at NBC's Mind-bending New Midseason Drama

Image
Awake might be one of the most clever of the new NBC pilots, which actually kind of worries me, given the apparent complex plots of shows like FlashForward and The Event and how both of those shows ended up losing interest from many viewers and were canceled. That being said, I'm hopeful that this mind-bending drama will hit it big with viewers when it premieres in NBC's midseason schedule. Awake stars several well-known actors, including Jason Issacs ( Harry Potter ), BD Wong ( Law & Order: SVU ), Cherry Jones ( 24 ), Michaela McManus ( The Vampire Diaries ), Wilmer Valderrama ( That '70s Show ) and Steve Harris ( The Practice ). Issacs stars as Detective Michael Britten, who is in a horrific car accident with his wife and son.  After waking up from the crash, he's told that his wife Hannah (Laura Allen, Terriers ) died, but his son Rex (Dylan Minnette, Saving Grace ) is still alive. Soon, however, Michael's life becomes even more complicated when

Supernatural Sneak Peek: Season Finale

Image
The one thing I'm looking forward to this week is the two hour Supernatural season finale, airing on Friday, May 20 Now The CW has released a sneak peek from the Supernatural season finale, as well as an extended trailer. If I had to wager a guess, I would assume that the clip below takes place in Sam's memories after he returns from Hell.  Or somewhere inside his head after the wall Death put up for him comes tumbling down.  Although, if it is a memory, I'm kind of curious how it fits in with the scene with Sam standing outside Lisa and Dean's house from the season 5 finale (and last week's Castiel-centric episode). In any event, we should be learning more about what happens when that wall in Sam's head cracks, which is probably the thing I'm most looking forward to - if only to get more answers about what happened to him in Hell and after he got out. You're not going to want to miss the Supernatural season finale airing this Friday, fol

Smash: First Look at NBC's New Midseason Musical

Image
Of all the new shows coming to NBC this fall, I might be most interested in Smash , which won't actually be premiering until midseason.  In my mind it's like a mash-up between Glee and that movie Center Stage .  The series is executive produced by Steven Spielberg and stars Debra Messing ( Will and Grace ) and Christian Borle ( Legally Blonde: The Musical ). Messing and Borle play Julia and Tom, respectively.  They're a successful songwriting duo who want to create a Broadway musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe. Naturally, there's drama behind the scenes with two women battling for the lead role in the musical: a young, inexperienced Midwestern girl played by Katharine McPhee ( American Idol ) and a stage veteran played by Megan Hilty ( 9 to 5: The Musical ). Anjelica Huston plays Eileen, a successful producer who learns about the Monroe musical and joins the project, along with Jack Davenport (FlashForward), a brilliant and successful director.  The s

Free Agents: First Look at NBC's New Comedy Pilot

Image
NBC has picked up a lot of new comedies for their 2011-2012 season (view the schedule here ).  One of them is entitled Free Agents, starring Hank Azria and Kathryn Hahn. Azria stars as Alex, a newly divorced man who can barely keep himself together.  Hahn plays his co-worker Helen, who is secretly falling apart - although she thinks she has all the answers.  After a drunken night out, Alex and Helen stumble into bed together.  But the next morning, Helen just wants them to be friends.  Alex's co-workers are Dan (Mo Mandel, Love Bites , Modern Family ) and Gregg (Al Madrigal, Wizards of Waverly Place , Gary, Unmarried ), and Stephen (Anthony Head, Merlin , Buffy the Vampire Slayer ), who keep trying to set Alex up. While Alex is hesitant to get back into the dating scene, he does agree to a date, which makes Helen jealous, so the two of them fall back into bed and seemed doomed to repeat this casual "relationship" cycle. Below are three sneak peeks and a trailer

Prime Suspect: First Look at NBC's New Drama Pilot

Image
The NBC Upfront presentation is currently taking place in New York City. The network has already released its 2011-2012 schedule ( view it here ) and the network is also releasing sneak peeks for its new pilots that will be premiering in the fall or during midseason. Prime Suspect is a remake of a British television series of the same name. The NBC version stars Maria Bello as Detective Jane Timoney. Timoney is a homicide detective in New York City. Having just transferred into a new job, she's up against tough competition in a primarily male-dominated unit. Timoney, apparently, also has her own sketcky past and is often rude, reckless and forceful. Other stars of the show include: Aidan Quinn (Unknown), Brian O’Byrne (Flash Forward), Tim Griffin (Star Trek), Kirk Acevedo (Fringe), Joe Nieves (How I Met Your Mother), Damon Gupton (The Last Airbender) and Peter Gerety (Blue Bloods). Prime Suspect will be airing on NBC on Thursdays at 10:00 p.m., which is a bit of an odd c

Marvel And ABC Join Forces for Castle Graphic Novel

Image
The third season of ABC's hit show Castle might be coming to an end tonight at 10pm, but fans don't need to be bummed about no news during the summer. TV Guide has just revealed that Marvel Entertainment and ABC Studios are teaming up to create a hardcover novel inspired by Castle. The graphic novel, entitled Richard Castle's Deadly Storm, will be the first effort in a partnership between Marvel and ABC, both owned by Disney. Richard Castle's Deadly Storm will feature Castle's famous character Derrick Storm, which was Nikki Heat's predecessor. The premise behind the hit show is that Richard Castle had a wildly successful series of books featuring Derrick Storm, but after becoming bored with the character, he killed him off, upsetting many fans. That was how the show began as Castle was in the middle of a major writer's block and found inspiration in Detective Kate Beckett to create the character of Detective Nikki Heat, launching a new series of books. Chuck Sneak Peeks: Season Finale "Chuck vs. the Cliffhanger"

Image
I'm sure all true Chuck sters have heard the great news, but in case you didn't, Chuck has been picked up for a 13-episode final season debuting this September.  Further, the show is being moved to Friday nights at 8:00pm ET/PT and is being paired with NBC's new fairy-tale tinged drama Grimm , in an attempt to kickstart scripted programming on that night.  Of course, we Chuck  fans would have loved a full 22-episode season pick-up, but I think a great thirteen episodes which give Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak a chance to wrap up the series in the way they want to is quite the blessing.  Especially because from what I hear about tonight's finale, there are going to be some EPIC stories to wrap up! That's right, tonight's season finale "Chuck vs the Cliffhanger" is, apparently, aptly titled, with critics who have reviewed it already rather excited about the possibilities that are opened by episode's end.  Not as if we needed any more re

Tonight on 90210: Season Finale "To the Future!"

Image
Tonight marks the third season finale of The CW's 90210 .  The show has already been renewed for a fourth season, but before the kids can head off to college they need to graduate high school, which is the focus of tonight's season finale. Graduation is upon the West Bev kids and not everything is going to go smoothly.  Annie, who is thrilled about heading off to college with her new inheritance, is dismayed when Liam derails their plans and tells her he doesn't want to go to college.  Will this break them up for good? And what about Adrianna?  The rest of the 90210 group is finally made aware of the terrible things she's been doing to Silver and they shun her.  Can she ever redeem herself or will she find herself very lonely when the new season starts? Raj and Ivy will also be going through with their wedding in tonight's season finale, with a beautiful ceremony on the beach.  But how long will Raj's health hold out? We'll have to wait un

Survivor: Redemption Island 22.14 "Seems Like a No-Brainer" Finale & Reunion Recap

Image
survivorBefore we get to the finale of Survivor: Redemption Island, make sure you know where we are by catching up with last week's recap. The finale begins on Night 35 at Redemption Island. Grant arrives, saying he didn't think he would be voted out. It's possible Rob or Phillip betrayed him, but he's A-OK with that. Andrea didn't want Grant showing up because the Duel will make her the under-underdog. Over at Murlonio, the final four Ometepes return to camp. Rob says he is sure Grant feels bad right now, but that's the game. As much as Rob likes to think he's a cold, calculating player, it still hurts to vote out his friend. Grant might be the only person to come back from RI that he might vote right back out. Ashley needs to go next in Rob's opinion.

Castle: The Murder Of Johanna Beckett 101

Image
The murder of Johanna Beckett is probably the most important case in the ABC hit show Castle . Mother of the female lead, Detective Kate Beckett, Johanna was stabbed in January of 1999 when Kate was still in college. This tragedy turned our beloved detective’s life upside down and made her change drastically, shaping up the strong, independent woman she is today. She decided to become a detective so she could bring her mother's murderer to justice. The season 3 finale “Knockout”, scheduled to air tonight at 10pm, is going to touch down again on this particular storyline as new evidence regarding the conspiracy surrounding Kate’s mother’s death is discovered. “Knockout” will be the third episode dedicated to this case and it is the one plot that has seamlessly made through all three seasons and has only deepened the mystery the more Castle and Beckett dig into it. Back in 1999 when it happened, the NYPD wrote it off as random gang violence, just bad luck. Beckett has found a lot m
