Fringe Star Anna Torv Reveals a Role She Almost Played in Season 3

Image
Anna Torv played a lot of characters last season. The actress, who primarily portrays FBI Agent Olivia Dunham on the FOX sci-fi drama  Fringe , got to appear on the show as a multitude of other characters - or characters playing other characters - throughout the season's run. She'll continue playing at least two of those characters with the fourth season, but there's one character she didn't play, though she came close.

How We Can Give Awards to Other Shows (And Still Love Mad Men Too)

Image
Okay, okay, we get it.  Mad Men  is great. The AMC period drama has been racking up awards since it first came on the air four years ago, and it shows no signs of stopping. The fourth season of the show recently nabbed the top prize at the first Critics' Choice TV Awards. Now, while I watch and enjoy  Mad Men  immensely and appreciate just how great it is, there's just one problem: seeing it win all these awards is getting  bo ring. It's also getting slightly frustrating for those of us who have other dogs we love in the fight. For example, Game of Thrones  is a brave new contender, but even with its near-perfect season, it probably doesn't matter so long as  Mad Men 's on the table; the reigning champ's going to win the top drama award everywhere it goes. And every year that it does, however much it might deserve it, it gets a little tougher for shows that are just as good to get the recognition they deserve.

The Killing Star: 'I thought the finale was awesome'

Image
Fans are really heating up about the big reveal -- well, lack thereof -- in the season finale of AMC's freshman series  The Killing . The episode featured a surprising twist, in that it didn't reveal who exactly killed Rosie Larson. The lack of resolution, which has been running throughout the season, has many fans threatening to quit the show, though showrunner Veena Sud has promised that Larson's killer will be revealed in season two. Star Mireille Enos, who plays detective Sarah Linden on the series, is also defending the finale. "I thought it was awesome,"  she told  TVLine . “I know there’s lots of controversy about it, but I think a cliffhanger is really smart storytelling. It means audiences will come back."

Glee Season 3: Cast Graduation Spoilers & New Writing Staff

Image
Recently,  Glee  producer Ryan Murphy appeared on  Ryan Seacrest's radio show  to discuss what will happen to the current cast after season 3 of  Glee . Cast Spoilers A few months ago, we heard that the plan is that most of the regular cast would be graduating from highschool in season 3 and leaving the show.  Murphy confirmed that characters like Rachel, Finn, Quinn and Puck will be entering their senior year in season 3 and will be graduating at the end of it.  "We didn’t want to have a show where they were in high school for eight years," Murphy said. "We really wanted  to be true to that experience."

Tonight on White Collar: 3.03 "Deadline"

Image
Last week saw the  White Collar  team seeking treasure, this week the investigation focuses on a big pharmaceutical company whilst dabbling in undercover work. We also look in to recent casting news that contains some spoilers for future episodes. Diana (Marsha Thomason) is the one who gets to play dress up this week as she becomes a journalists assistant, in order to protect a women's life from the company that she has been investigating. This reporter played by Jayne Atkinson ( Criminal Minds ,  Gossip Girl ,  24 ) adds a little Devil Wears Prada  in to the episode as she takes a page from the Meryl Streep/Anna Wintour handbook. We will also be seeing more of Sara (Hilarie Burton) this week, who despite having been made a regular character this season has had very little to do so far. In  White Collar  casting spoiler news  TV Guide  exclusively reported that Beau Bridges ( Brothers & Sisters, Stargate: Atlantis ,  Stargate SG-1 )  has been cast to play Peter's (Tim DeKa

Criminal Minds Star Will Be in Season 7

Image
Good news  Criminal Minds  fans, Deadline Hollywood has  reported  that Thomas Gibson has finally finished contract negotiations and has signed on to play Aaron 'Hotch' Hotchner for another 2 years. After all the casting issues that have plagued this show first with A.J. Cook and Paget Brewster and then with these extended contract talks, I think it is fair to say that fans of this show have been put through the ringer when it comes to some of their favourite cast members.

Teen Wolf: The Magic Bullet

Image
That...was...AWESOME!!! Thank you, Stiles, for another laugh out loud moment courtesy of Teen Wolf. Last night's episode soared on so many levels and I'm on a high that even ecstasy couldn't match. The way the writers drop mythology in the most subtle of ways, while building the characters and atmosphere around them is reminiscent of not only early Buffy, but most of The WB supernatural themed fare such as Roswell, Charmed, Smallville, and even Supernatural. I might be committing TV blogger/critic suicide with some of my colleagues (and readers) by comparing Teen Wolf with those seminal classics, but I stand by my word. Teen Wolf is rapidly becoming Must See TV and my Mondays are NOT complete without it. Seriously.

FX Casts Lucy Punch as 'Powers' Lead

Image
Lucy Punch has reportedly been cast as the female lead in the new FX series  Powers , according to  Deadline . Powers  is a cop drama with a twist: it's set in a world where superpowers are common, and the crimes they solve involve said powers. It's like the inverse of SyFy's upcoming series  Alphas , which deals with superpowered cops solving normal crimes. I don't know about you, but  Powers intrigues me more, despite its title.

Basketball Wives: Is the Outer Circle Collapsing?

Image
I love watching an underdog win. There's something so wonderful and inspiring about watching someone fight and scratch their way to the top without the same luxuries or experience as their competitors. However, there's also an increased amount of pain whenever they get within one shot of winning or overcoming their demons. As much as I love watching an underdog win, it's hard to see them lose.

J.K. Rowling to publish Harry Potter series digitally via her own website

Image
The Harry Potter book series has made J.K. Rowling one of the most popular authors in the world and made her boatloads of money at the same time. Apparently, when Rowling first negotiated the publishing right to her book series she was able to finagle the ability to keep the rights to the digital publication. Rowling is now set to change how major authors publish digital books by not selling the digital books on an existing platform or via her print publisher. Rowling will sell the complete series of Potter books directly from her own website called Pottermore. The books will be sold on a proprietary platform and will be DRM-free. The books will be watermarked with the original purchaser’s information though much the way Apple does with DRM-free tunes that can be tracked to the original account that purchased them. I can only imagine that the digital version of the Potter books will prove to be hugely successful as well. Along with the direct sales of the eBooks in the Potter series, w

Over 1M iPhones on T-Mobile USA

Image
AT&T made its plans to gobble up T-Mobile public back in March. The deal will cost AT&T $39 billion. Sprint is not happy at all about the purchase deal and has been pushing the FCC to block the acquisition, though it seems unlikely that a block will happen. Most suspect that Sprint is simply trying to force some limits on the merged company to make its position stronger in the market. AT&T and Verizon are the only two carriers that official have the iPhone on their networks with Verizon only having the iPhone 4. With AT&T, looking to gobble up T-Mobile it would be easy to expect the iPhone to come to that network eventually. T-Mobile USA has told 9to5Mac that it already has a huge number of iPhones operating on its network. T-Mo claims that over a million iPhones are on the network already. It says most of the devices are not the iPhone 4. To get the iPhone to operate on the T-Mo network the users have had to cut their normal SIM cards down to Micro-SIMs using scissor

Nokia Windows Phone gets demo: N9-a-like shows Microsoft love

Image
Nokia’s first Windows Phone handset has been revealed, and as expected it looks very similar to the N9announced earlier this week. Demonstrated briefly by Nokia CEO Stephen Elop – who makes a brief “please turn off your cameras” plea, which obviously goes unheard – the phone adds in a dedicated camera button as Microsoft mandates for Windows Phone devices. Full video from technet.hu after the cut. As well as the button, the LED flash on the back has moved from underneath the lens to the side instead. Elop doesn’t mention any specific specifications, though does confirm that the handset is codenamed “Sea Ray.” The video itself is mightily professional, with cut scenes and multiple angles, and if we were more conspiracy-minded we might even wonder whether Nokia itself had released it to boost enthusiasm ahead of the full Windows Phone launch in Q4. Nokia is expected to officially announce its new devices at Nokia World 2011, which will be held on October 26 and 27 2011 in London, UK.

Amenbo uses all five fingers for computer input

Image
Generally, the input we all use for our computers is a single point. Sure, we can get track pads that sense gestures and multiple fingers as well as touchscreens that allow for multiple finger input. However, for the most part we all use a mouse that has only one point of input. A company called Double Research & Development Co has unveiled a new input device that looks more than a little like a mouse and allows all five fingers to support computer input. The Amenbo can translate the complete hand movement into computer input. Each of the mouse sensors under the fingers can also sense pressure. That means that not only can all five fingers control screen input, but the Amenbo can sense which of the fingers are being pressed and activate the correct input on the screen. The sensors under each finger are linked by a flexible printed mesh circuit to the base. The mesh circuit will stretch to accommodate different hand sizes. The part under the plan appears to be a mouse style base. Th

Apple expected to lose bid to kill Amazon Appstore

Image
Apple didn’t take kindly at all to Amazon launching the Amazon Appstore for Android to sell apps directly to Android smartphone and tablet users. The trademark infringement suit was swift and is still ongoing. Apple obviously has the trademark on “App Store” and feels that it will extend to “Appstore” too. The legal battle goes on and it appears that Apple will likely lose its battle to block the Appstore owned by Amazon. Apple claims that it will be irreparably harmed by the Amazon store name and the trademark will erode the value of its own App Store. The US District judge presiding over the case is Phyllis Hamilton and she has stated that she will “probably” deny the motion because Apple has failed to demonstrate confusion among consumers. Hamilton will be reviewing the court documents in the case before making a decision. Amazon is still maintaining the App Store is a generic term and Apple doesn’t have exclusive rights over them. I agree with Amazon on this one, we all call softw

Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2 with Tegra 3 and Ice Cream Sandwich to hit in Oct/Nov?

Image
We mentioned a week or so back that a version of the Eee Pad Transformer is expected to land in 2012 thatruns Windows for the operating system instead of Android like the current Transformer does. The tablet was rumored to land along side another Android version of the Transformer. Another Eee Pad Transformer rumor is circulating that originated with “sources” in Taiwan in the supplier chain. Apparently, another version of the Transformer is expected to land this year. The new version is said to run the NVIDIA Tegra 3 chipset and Android Ice Cream Sandwich. The sources claim that with big orders for Tegra parts that Asus will become the largest customer of NVIDIA passing up Acer. Acer is having issues moving its tablets in the numbers it expected and has been cutting expectations for its offerings. The sources claim that the Transformer 2 will land in October or November. The sources also claim that Asus has a PadFone with Tegra and Ice Cream Sandwich coming as well. I think the PadFon

Hulu Plus for Android works on six devices to start

Image
If you are an Android user with a subscription to Hulu Plus or someone that has been holding out until there was an app for Hulu Plus before subscribing the app has started a limited roll out. The only catch to start with is that the Android app will only run on six different devices to start. That means if you are on a device other than one of the initial six the app apparently won’t work. The six smartphones that Hulu says will support the new app include the Nexus One, Nexus S, HTC Inspire 4G, Motorola Droid II, Motorola Droid X, and the Motorola Atrix. If you are a subscriber already to Hulu Plus and it works on a smartphone other than one of the six HTC spells out let us know. Hulu says that it will be adding new handsets over the coming months to the officially supported list. Naturally, you will need a subscription to the Hulu Plus service to use the app. You can download and get a free week trial to see if you like it. Hulu Plus is a good way to catch up on some of your network

Rumor has PopCap and EA in talks for $1B acquisition deal

Image
When it comes to mobile video games PopCap is one of the more popular developers out there with some of the coolest mobile games around. Reports are coming in that EA is in late stage acquisition talks with PopCap to purchase the mobile dev firm for a huge amount of money. According to sources cited by TechCrunch, the amount being thrown around is over a billion dollars. The purchase would be a massive sum by any accounts and would be about 13% of EA’s market cap at this point. EA traditionally does well enough in the console and PC gaming markets with some very cool games, but EA has long struggled in the mobile and social gaming market. Those are both areas where PopCap is very good. The purchase of the PopCap would immediately get EA some very knowledgeable developers that work in the mobile space and would land EA some popular mobile and social games to get it started. PopCap has popular mobile games like Plants vs Zombies and Bejeweled. That is all we know about the rumored deal a

Asus unveils super-thin and sexy U36 ultra-portable with standard voltage Core i5

Image
Asus has unveiled a new ultra-portable notebook computer that is crazy thin. The machine is billed as the thinnest notebook in the world to use a standard voltage Intel Core i5 processor. Generally, the thin notebooks have to use a low voltage processor to be able to get a decent battery life. The chassis of the machine is 19mm thick and is made from lightweight magnesium alloy with a nanometer coating. That coating helps the machine to repel dirt, water, and fingerprints. You might worry that the standard voltage processor into the design you mean a small battery with a short run time. Asus promises that the notebook will run for up to 11.5 hours. The machine uses the Asus Super Hybrid Engine with a USB 3.0 toggle. The notebook also uses NVIDIA graphics with Optimus technology to help extended the batter life. The screen of the notebook is a 13.3-inch HD TFT unit with native resolution of 1366 x 768. The notebook has integrated 802.11b/g/n WiFi and a five in one card reader. I already

Erbe Planter is also a grill and perhaps the worst idea ever

Image
In Texas, grilling is a big deal, most of the outdoor events we have around here involves cooking up something on the grill. If you live in a place where you have a small patio or don’t have room for a normal grill the Erbe planter/Grill combo might seem like a good idea. The thing looks like one of those terracotta planters that pretty much everyone has on their patio in an apartment complex. This one holds a pant on top and has a grill underneath. The grill is a strange pattern with holes all in it rather than the normal long straight wires. That means your steaks will have a weird circular pattern on them rather than the traditional grill lines. It also means your hot dogs won’t fall into the ash, which is an upside. The thing that really trips me out about this grill is the fact that I can see some idiot setting his plant on fire. Someone somewhere will not want to wait for the grill to cool before they put the plant back on top. The charcoal under a layer of ash can stay hot for a

ASUS Eee Top range updated with AMD Fusion chips

Image
ASUS has outed its latest all-in-one PCs, the 15.6-inch Eee Top ET1611PUT based on Intel’s Atom chips and the 20-inch Eee Top ET2011AUKB and ET2011AUTB based on AMD’s Brazos APUs. What we’re most pleased to see, however, is that the ET2011AUKB comes with a matte-finish display (the ET2011AUTB has a glossy display, albeit one that also responds to multitouch gestures). Inside the Eee Top ET1611PUT is Intel’s 1.8GHz single-core D425 processor, paired with GMA3150 graphics, 2GB of RAM and a 250GB hard-drive. There’s a single-touch display, WiFi b/g/n, a 0.3-megapixel webcam and five USB 2.0 ports, along with gigabit ethernet and a pair of 2W speakers. It’ll be available either with Windows 7 preloaded or OS-free, priced at €449 ($641) or €369 ($526) respectively. As for the larger Eee Top ET2011AUKB and ET2011AUTB, they both have a 1.6GHz AMD Fusion Brazos E350 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 500GB 7,200rpm hard-drive and a 1.3-megapixel webcam. There’s also a tray-loading DVD burner, WiFi b/g/n

Motorola CEO: “We take phones away from people and they start crying”

Image
Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha has admitted that the company’s research into phone design and functionality has led to tears among users, though the chief exec is more curious about the potential for consolidation with a mobile software business. In an interview with Fortune, Jha suggests that phone manufacturers acquiring each other is not necessarily the best approach, and that instead “consolidation across content manufacturers and hardware and software manufacturers” has more potential value. Given Jha threw out all software on Motorola’s phones but Android, could the CEO be hinting at a potential Google merge? If that’s the case, he’s certainly not saying it outright. ”There are lots of opportunities for us to combine different resources and create more shareholder value” Jha says, when asked if consolidating with a software outfit is a possibility, though he “hope[s] very much” that Motorola will remain independent. Still, while analysts crunched the numbers last week and decid

appBlaster turns iPhone into motion-sensitive AR gaming gun

Image
Every thought that gaming on your iPhone or iPod touch is simply too discrete, and that not enough of the people around you realize you’re playing shooter games rather than responding to Very Important Emails? apptoyz has just the thing, with its appBlaster gun: designed to hold your iPhone and give you a something to hold on to while you play Alien Attack [iTunes link], the gun chassis works much as we’ve seen Wiimote peripherals do in the past. Battery-free, the appBlaster relies on a pair of manual pads that flip up when you pull the trigger and push against the display, mimicking the touch of your fingers. Reloading the gun is done by physically cocking it, thanks to the smartphone’s motion sensors. As for the game itself, Alien Attack uses augmented reality to overlay shootable aliens around whatever room you’re currently in. The appBlaster is available to pre-order in the UK now, priced at £19.99 ($32), with deliveries expected from July 6. More details in the video below.

ASUS 13-inch NVIDIA Android laptop in works; Samsung, Toshiba & Acer planning similar?

Image
Samsung, Toshiba, ASUS and Acer are all readying ARM-based laptops hoping to restore the reputation of the little-loved “smartbook” segment, according to the latest talk in Taipei. According to DigiTimes‘ sources, ASUS has prepared a 13-inch notebook using an unspecified NVIDIA chip – potentially the quad-core Kal-El expected to show up in commercial hardware from August – and running Android, with a launch toward the end of 2011. Unfortunately, the sources don’t say whether it’s Kal-El or the older, dual-core Tegra 2 chip that ASUS is looking to use. Apparently, ASUS and the other companies are blaming the poor sales success of smartbooks like theToshiba AC100 on the underpowered ARM processors of the time. With dual-core chips already making a dent in the market, and quad-core nearing, a second attempt seems more realistic. No details on Acer, Toshiba and Samsung’s ARM notebook plans at this stage, though we’re guessing they’ll be similar to the Samsung: ultraportables intended to ta

HTC gives Sensation a WiMAX makeover for HTC EVO 4G+

Image
HTC has outed its latest 4G smartphone, and though the dual-core HTC EVO 4G+ WiMAX handset is initially intended for South Korea’s WiBro networks, we’d be very surprised if it didn’t make it over to North American shores. Packing both WiMAX and HSPA connectivity, the EVO 4G+ basically takes the guts of the HTC Sensation – including the 1.2GHz dual-core CPU and 4.3-inch qHD resolution display – and gives it a squared off chassis. The 8-megapixel autofocus camera with dual-LED flash is still present, complete with 1080p Full HD video recording (with stereo sound). The EVO 4G+ also has stereo speakers for playback, as well as supporting MHL for HDMI connections via the microUSB port. Other connectivity includes Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, a microSD card slot and quadband GSM/EDGE. The dual-core processor is paired with 1GB of internal ROM, and there’s HTC Sense with access to the HTC Watch download/rental movie store. DLNA streaming and the clever active lockscreen are also present. No word on w

Pentax Q interchangeable lens camera grabs “world’s smallest” title

Image
Pentax has outed its new interchangeable-lens camera, the Pentax Q, and it has whipped the “world’s smallest” titles from out from under the nose of the Sony NEX-C3. The 12.4-megapixel Q has a 1/2.3 inch backlit CMOS image sensor and uses a new Q mount system; there’s in-camera HDR, Full HD 1080p 30fps video recording, sensor-shift shake reduction and 5fps continuous shooting. Pentax has also thrown in a clever dog-leg style pop-up flash, which the company reckons has a 28-degree wide angle field of view along with 23 foot effectiveness at ISO 200. A Quick Dial settings wheel on the front of the camera can be preset to the Q’s various auto, scene, effects and other modes. There’s also a Bokeh Control filter and shutter speeds ranging from 1/2000 to 30 seconds. Ports include HDMI, USB and an SDHC memory card slot, while the display is a 3-inch HVGA panel. As for lenses, Pentax is launching the Q mount system with four options (aside from the PENTAX 01 Standard Prime kit lens): the 02 St

LulzSec Hacker Boat Sunk By Another Hacker Group?

Image
The “hacktivist” group called LulzSec has been wreaking havoc on websites and servers across the board over the last several weeks. Ever since the PlayStation Network breach, the group has been actively taking down gaming sites and even government agency sites including the CIA.gov and Senate.gov. They’ve certainly kept themselves in the headlines and are now drawing ire from other hackers. Another hacker group called TeaMp0ison claims to have defaced a LulzSec website and left a message warning LulzSec that it had obtained pictures, addresses, passwords, IPs, and phone numbers of LulzSec members and will be releasing all the info in a “TeaMp0ison Issue 2.” The message also rants about how LulzSec uses pre-made tools and scripts to attack opponents and therefore do not qualify as real hackers. However, the message seems to be from one perpetrator who admits he’s only 17 years old. It’s not clear if this is a personal grudge or if the message is actually representative of the undergroun

ISIS Mobile Payments To Start In Austin

Image
Being able to “tap and pay” with your smartphones will be widespread next year according to the predictions of Google exec Eric Schmidt. The company has begun rolling out its Google Wallet mobile payment system after last month’s announcement. And to keep up, competing mobile payment service ISIS—a joint venture between AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile—is speeding up the delivery of its system, now set to start in Austin, TX. ISIS will deliver a similar NFC-based mobile wallet system that links your existing Visa, MasterCard, or other major credit card with your mobile account. Originally, the group had greater ambitions to completely replace conventional credit card networks with its own comprehensive offering that would make revenue both on transaction fees and ads. This would essentially mean competing head-to-head against Visa and MasterCard. Plus, Visa announced its own plans for mobile payments. They have since had to scale back possibly realizing the clout of Visa and MasterCa

iPhone Overtakes Flickr as Most Popular Camera

Image
There are certain statistics every good camera or camera-toting device group pays attention to, one of the more unassumingly important set of these being on Flickr’s own most popular cameras page. This page is an extremely simplistic look at which devices are attached to photos the most often in the Flickr community, graphs broken down into Point & Shoot, Cameraphones, and the cross-breed Most Popular Cameras overall over the past year of Flickr action. What we’re seeing today is that longstanding king of Flicker photos, the Nikon D90, has been ousted and replaced by the rapidly growing iPhone. This is the first time (in recent history at least) that a smartphone has taken the top spot from the Cannons and Nikons of the world, a wakeup call for the point and shoot / DSLR / every camera-only device in the world to be sure. When you take a look at the Popular Point & Shoot Cameras chart you’ll notice that not only are they ALL Canons, they’re all evening out, this chart (and the

No More “Faux-G,” Congressional Bill Demands Carriers To Detail 4G Speeds

Image
Ever since the 4G race got heated between T-Mobile and AT&T after realizing they were lagging behind Verizon’s LTE and the Now Network’s WiMAX networks, the meaning of 4G became increasingly defiled. Now, Congresswoman Anna Eshoo is proposing a bill that would require carriers to be straightforward with their network speeds and eliminate all this faux-G bull. The Next Generation Wireless Disclosure Act, as it is called, will have carriers publish details on their minimum 4G speeds, their coverage, and their network reliability. Eshoo wants to create a standard framework of what 4G really means, at least at this moment in time, and ensure that consumers understand what they sign up for. The International Telecomunications Union (ITU) had originally defined true 4G as being a theoretical peak of 100Mbps, which only some LTE networks can reach. And so far, only LTE-Advanced and WiMAX 2 are formally certified as 4G. And although no consumer 4G connections ever reach this number in the

Sony PS Vita May Not Ship Until January 2012?

Image
Sony’s PSP successor, which has long been dubbed the NGP for next-generation portable was finally unveiled at E3 2011 as the PS Vita . It promises to bring PS3 console quality games to handheld and was slated for this fall just in time for the holiday season. However, recent reports from online pre-orders through Amazon suggest that the device may not ship until January of next year. Several readers of Destructoid claim to have placed orders for the PS Vita on Amazon only to be notified of a January 2012 ship date. So far, rumors have pointed to a November 4th release of the PS Vita for the UK, but not much has surfaced on a U.S. release date. Destructoid is claiming a December 31 release that would suggest most shipments won’t arrive until at least January 4th. A two-month difference between the UK and US release plus missing the holiday season makes the claim a bit iffy. The PS Vita touts a 5-inch OLED touchpad screen along with a second touchpad on the back side. It will also have

Motorola Droid Bionic Still On Schedule

Image
Motorola’s Droid Bionic was first revealed at CES earlier this year with plenty of nice specs under the hood. But since that time—going on six months now—the device has yet to hit Verizon’s 4G LTE network. Delays were announced stating that enhancements were being made, but little is known as to exactly what those are or if the device may get axed altogether. Motorola today laid any doubts to rest with a tweet reassuring that the Droid Bionic is indeed on its way. When the Motorola Droid Bionic was revealed at CES, it featured a 4.3-inch qHD display running on a 1GHz dual-core processor along with 512MB of RAM and promised a VGA front-facing camera and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera. But it’s been several months since the announcement and during this time Motorola has announced delays due to unspecified enhancements. These enhancements could mean boosted specs by the time it actually arrives. Although other rumors suggest that the enhancements could also mean a new form factor that

LG Thrill 4G For AT&T Officially Unveiled

Image
AT&T today confirmed that the LG Thrill 4G will be arriving this summer packed with 3D content. The LG Thrill 4G looks familiar because it’s essentially the LG Optimus 3D but now tied in with AT&T. We first got our hands on the 3D-capable smartphone back when it was announced in February and now it will be ready for the summer with 4G HSPA+. LG’s partnership with Gameloft will also bring more 3D content and games for the device. What’s nice about the LG Thrill 4G besides supporting 3D image and video capture with its dual array 5-megapixel rear-facing cameras is that it will come with plenty of 3D app support. It will ship with YouTube 3D along with 3D games such as Asphalt 6, Let’s Golf 2, and NOVA. More 3D games can be had from the Gameloft 3D store while 3D movies can be downloaded from mSpot. The LG Thrill 4G features a 4.3-inch display that supports glasses-free 3D viewing. It has a 1GHz dual-core processor and its dual-array cameras can record 3D in 720p and 2D in 1080p.

DVD Review - Weapons Races

Image
Current events are plagued with paranoia over who has what weapons.  We left a Black Hawk helicopter in Pakistan! Iran has nuclear weapons!  And while those fears are of course legitimate, putting them in a historical context sometimes makes them less scary. That's perhaps why  Weapons Races  is here; to show us just how many times the world has grappled over military technology. The three disc set from Acorn Media's documentary imprint Athena hits shelves on Tuesday, June 21. Seen on Discovery's Military Channel,  Weapons Races  details just how fighter jets and atom bombs came to be, and all the times the winner of that particular weapons race could have been someone else entirely. Each episode chronicles the creation of another war machine; from radar to strategic ballistic missiles, there's not much that isn't covered in the set, right up until the 1990s, when this documentary was made. It's fast-paced and informative, especially for military or history buf

Comedy Central Cancels 'Norm MacDonald', Onion Sportsdome

Image
It's a bad day to be a fan of sports news parody, as  Comedy Central has announced the cancellations  of both  Sports Show with Norm Macdonald  and  Onion Sportsdome  after one season each. Comedy Central recently debuted  Jon Benjamin Has a Van  in the post- Tosh.O  timeslot that both  Sports Show  and  Sportsdome  aired in. Sports Show  was  SNL  alum Macdonald's first live action series since 1999's  The Norm Show , taking a sort of  Tosh -meets- Daily Show  stab at the sports world through web videos and field segments. (Macdonald has been doing a lot of stand-up, guest appearances, and voice work in the time since Norm .) Designed as a  Sportscenter /ESPN parody,  Sportsdome  featured appearances from real life sports reporters (Danyelle Sargent) and athletes (Gary Payton). The show had been on hiatus since April. Did you watch either  Sports Show  or  Onion Sportsdome ? How disappointed are you about the cancellations? What do you think the cast/correspondents of bot

Castle: Is It Too Soon For Castle & Beckett To Get Together?

Image
Castle  is, in theory, a crime procedural. Every week we get a different case and that particular investigation – with the exception of Beckett’s mom’s murder and the 3XK serial killer – is wrapped up by the end of the episode. However, that is not what  Castle  is all about. Each case serves as a catalyst for the characters to grow and develop and that is what really drives the show. The interactions between characters, how they relate to each other and how those relationships develop over time, is really the foundation of any drama and it is no different with  Castle.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia Star Gains 50 Pounds for Role

Image
Well, Kaitlin Olsen did gain a lot of weight during her pregnancy (which was worked into the show for her character, Dee Reynolds). But that's not who I'm talking about. I'm talking about actor Rob McElhenney, Olsen's husband.
