Microsoft + Google = Apple

Image
If you aren’t a big Apple fan, this is going to sting. As of yesterday morning, AppleInsider reports that Microsoft’s market cap was about $256.7 billion. At the same time, Google’s market cap was about $198.9 billion. If you flipped over and looked at Apple’s market cap, it was at $456 billion. Yes, that meant that Apple was worth more than Google and Microsoft combined. Love or hate Apple, you have to admit that the company is growing in a massive way on the backs of incredibly popular products such as the iPhone, iPad, and MacBook notebooks. The massive growth the Apple has reported since the untimely death of Steve Jobs is nothing short of astounding. While Apple is growing hand over fist, Google and Microsoft aren’t seeing the same sort of growth. In fact, shares in Google fell more than 9% last month after the company missed expectations from Wall Street on earnings and revenue. Microsoft, on the other hand, met expectations, but its revenues from Windows operating system slipped

Roku Players ship in UK with new iPlayer support

Image
Roku has made a couple announcements that fans streaming media in the UK may get excited about. The first is that the Roku players are now shipping to customers in the UK. The other announcement is that the selection of entertainment content for fans in the UK has increased. The UK versions of the players previously allowed users to access content like Netflix and a lot more. Roku has now announced that the UK customers will also get access to BBC iPlayer. That access allows customers to catch up on current BBC programs right on the TV with no need for a computer. That means no missing out on Top Gear and having to slum it by watching the program on your small computer screen. UK fans will be able to buy the Roku LT and the Roku 2 XS. Those players will sell for £49.99 and £99.99 respectively. Each will offer over 40 channels of streaming content, including Crackle in the UK and a lot more. The players also support casual games such as Angry Birds. The content available on the devices

Get all The Pirate Bay in a 90MB download

Image
If you are the sort who likes to download your movies, music, and other stuff from places like The Pirate Bay, you can grab your very own copy of the pirate website right now. Back in January, I mentioned that The Pirate Bay was making some changes from directly hosting torrent files to magnetic links. The change was to make the site require less bandwidth and to allow fans to be able to download and host their own version locally as a way to avoid authorities seeking to take the site off-line. The personal version of The Pirate Bay is now ready for you to grab. It’s interesting to me that complete listing of torrents that the infamous website hosts is only 90MB. That means you can host your very own copy with just about any flash drive you may have laying around, even if that drive is years old. The 90MB download allows you to host your copy of The Pirate Bay as a proxy site. The 90MB file size comes from a script created by a Pirate Bay user going by the name allisfine. The script cr

Kickstarter sees two projects hit the $1 million mark

Image
I can remember the first time I happened across Kickstarter. I remember thinking that it was a very odd website, and I didn’t see how people would be able to raise the sort of money they were seeking for products and other things such as movies or games they wanted to produce. As it turns out, Kickstarter has massively blown up over the last year, and many projects are racking up huge sums of money from hoards of Internet users who can put their own cash behind projects that they find interesting. Over the last few months, we’ve seen several projects that have been successful in racking up significantly more money than the project owners figured they needed. Kickstarter has announced that there are now two products going on the site that have racked up huge sums in pledges. In fact, both the Elevation Dock for the iPhone and the Tim Schafer video game project dubbed Double Fine Adventure have both surpassed the $1 million mark. The Elevation Dock hit the $1 million donation mark as of

Tesla Model X: Forget “falcon-wings”, the touchscreen dash is geek cred enough

Image
Tesla’s new Model X SUV is already dividing opinion over its external design, with some loving the “falcon-wing” rear doors and others arguing the crossover looks like a chubby, yawning hamster, but it’s the interior tech that really has us drooling. Like the Model S before it, the Tesla Model X offers a huge 17-inch touchscreen as its center console, as Jalopnik‘s photos show, with a fully digital drivers binnacle. Rather than the usual knobs and buttons, Tesla offloads all the HVAC controls, entertainment systems, safety and other gadgetry in the Model X into its vast touchscreen. Multiple USB ports will allow for external devices to be hooked up, and there’ll be third-party app support as well as the promise of Tesla’s own periodic updates to keep your all-electric SUV up to date. Of course, there’s more to like about the Model X, such as the innovative gullwing doors that have multiple joints so as to open up access to the second and third row of seats even if you’re boxed in at th

WolframAlpha Pro exits beta

Image
If you’re a big fan of WolframAlpha, a new version has been unveiled this week called WolframAlpha Pro. We got a glimpse at the new Pro version earlier this week when a screenshot turned up. The Pro version has officially launched and according to WolframAlpha this is the biggest single step in the development since it was originally launched. WolframAlpha boasts the new Pro version brings users fundamentally new and remarkable capabilities. The biggest difference in the Pro version and the existing version, is that the Pro version requires a subscription with pricing at $4.99 a month for normal users or $2.99 a month for students. There is a free trial subscription to let you try out and see if you like the service before subscribing. The Pro version offers the user access to their history once logged in and allows the defining of favorites for easy access. You can also now download raw data that is behind output from WolframAlpha to a spreadsheet in formats for raw data and formatted

Phones 4U JUMP offers six month upgrades for early-adopters

Image
Cellphone owners in the UK could upgrade their on-contract handset as often as every six months, retailerPhones 4U have promised, with a new double agreement system that splits device subsidy from service. Trialled since May last year, Phones 4 U JUMP – “Just Upgrade My Phone” – is now rolling out across the UK; subscribers sign up to a double contract that includes a talk/text/data package with a carrier and a separate phone contract with the retailer itself, along with various trade-in options for switching device before the service agreement is up. JUMP means subscribers own rather than lease their handset, as UK carrier O2 launched for the iPhone 4S last December, and can choose to keep it rather than to trade it in. Phones 4U says it will guarantee a trade-in value of at least £100 for the first twelve months, and customers can throw in up to two more devices to increase their overall trade-in value. Phones must be functional – able to power on, with non-cracked displays, not wate

Apple picking iPad 3 showcase apps in final launch prep

Image
Apple is reportedly in “crunch mode” as it completes last-minute preparations for the iPad 3 launch rumored to take place in the first week of March, lining up showcase apps to demonstrate on-stage and in subsequent advertising. That process has been accelerated, according to The Next Web‘s sources, with Apple apparently focusing on apps that demonstrate the third-gen tablet’s graphics prowess. That comes as little surprise, given the most commonly leaked details about the upcoming tablet refresh are around its display and GPU abilities. While the first two iPad generations used a 1024 x 768 resolution display, Apple is tipped to have doubled that for the new model. That should add up to smoother, Retina Display style graphics and more detailed video playback. Meanwhile, the graphics chip inside the iPad 3 is also said to have seen a significant boost, with Apple expected to use the new tablet to launch the A6 processor. Conflicting rumors have tipped the A6 as both a dualcore and a qu

Apple drops two new iPhone 4S commercials

Image
If you own an iPhone 4S already, then you already know how ‘smart’ Siri really is. Actually, voice recognition on the 4S is all these ads promote. But for those of you still skeptical towards the whole ‘Virtual Assistant’ bit, these two commercials are for you. The first is my favorite of the two. Titled “Rock God”, this clip is aimed towards you musicians out there. Sometimes it’s hard to know what commands Siri will properly respond to. But here you’ll notice Siri can look up music notations. Oddly, I tried asking Siri how to play a few of the songs in the commercial but they weren’t recognized. When asking “How do I play a B minor 9th” it ended up working fine. The second, labeled “Road Trip”, depicts a couple traveling across the US using Siri to guide them from place to place. It seems I’m learning something new from every commercial featuring Siri, because now i know it can look up constellation via Wolfram Alpha. Doesn’t that make you wonder what other commands Siri is capable o

Tesla Model X all-electric crossover unveiled and detailed

Image
On the eve of February 9th, 2012, it was in Hawthorne California that the public first saw the Tesla Motors Model X electric crossover vehicle. This lovely vehicle has the look of other premium crossovers such as the Acura ZDX or the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo and is made to fit in with that niche on the outside whilst having massive amounts of space inside for a full family of riders. This vehicle is fully electric and therefor has a different set of needs as far as space for its motor components go – here showing clearly the benefits of not needing the much larger internal combustion engine. This vehicle is a prototype of the third vehicle Tesla has unveiled, this just weeks after its stock prices fell sharply at the announcement of the departure of two high-ranking engineers. As it stands, this vehicle looks to be the model with the most hype in the company’s short history, complete with signature “Falcon Wing” doors at the back that will garner it no small amount of attention due to

Twitter can lead Indonesians to a decade in prison

Image
Indonesia’s Communications and Information Minister has made it officially known that anyone breaking the country’s restrictive, non-free-speech laws will be strictly adhered to even for users who are on Twitter. The micro-blogging site does not prohibit users from posting defamatory or threats, but if an Indonesian native is found to be the one posting such content, they will be persecuted to the fullest extent of the law, however backward it may be. Under Indonesia’s Information and Electronic Transactions Law, users can face between seven and 12 years behind bars if their tweet is found to be conveying any of the following: pornography, threats, fraud, gambling, and blasphemy. “If they violate the laws, they will be punished. Principally, every account user could be held responsible by tracing his position and device,” the country’s minister Tifatul Sembiring was quoted as saying. It seems a bit crazy, but then again Indonesia isn’t the only country to treat Twitter as a public foru

H&M becomes Google+’s most followed brand page

Image
Forget Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Nike, Disney, or even Google. The one company that people have flocked to more than anyone else in the search giant’s increasingly massive social network is discount clothes retailer H&M. Sure, that Super Bowl ad featuring David Beckham in his underwear must have built a lot of brand excitement among at least part of the online population, but what is the real driving factor behind H&M catapulting ahead of so many other iconic companies? Granted, Google+ is still a nascent platform. To demonstrate, even though H&M is the most popular brand page on the network, its number of fans (or “circlers”) is just 456,365. Compare that to, say, Coca-Cola, which may fall behind on Google+ (326,096 circlers) but has nearly 39,000,000 fans on Facebook. Nevertheless, it’s a testament to H&M’s marketing that it has managed to surpass so many other well-established names. The clothing chain has apparently linked to its Google+ page more than any other brand on th

After a 10-year run on television, the Smallville series, which tells the coming-of-age story of a young Superman, will continue on with an 11th seaso

Image
Mattel made a huge killing in its partnership with Rovio and its merchandise like the Angry Birds board game. So rival toy conglomerate Hasbro is saying, “Gee, I’d like a piece of that.” It has forged a deal with fellow newly minted gaming giant Zynga to bring a line of games and toys based on some of the most popular social game franchises in the industry. Among the licenses it now has access to are Mafia Wars and Farmville. Zynga’s games, which are most popular on Facebook but have also grown to an increasingly large user base on mobile platforms, bring in 227 million active monthly players. It’s obviously an incredibly attractive licensing opportunity, and a giant like Hasbro is pretty much the only one that makes sense to gain those rights. It was not disclosed how much Hasbro had to pay in order to secure the exclusivity. The first products will be available in the fall. One thing that is a potential cause for concern is that unlike Angry Birds, Zynga’s audience tends to skew a bi

DC Comics revives Smallville, in digital form at first

Image
After a 10-year run on television, the Smallville series, which tells the coming-of-age story of a young Superman, will continue on with an 11th season. But this time you’ll have to turn away from your TV and onto your iPad, Android tablet, or other preferred method of reading digital comics. The new e-comic series will be titled “Smallville Season 11,” and it is being penned by a former writer from the series’ days on the CW. The story will pick up right where the TV series finale left off, which presented a memorable moment as Clark Kent flew off into the sky. It acted as both a perfectly appropriate end to a long-running television series and a cliffhanger at the same time. Writer Brian Q. Miller looked at the latter as his launching pad for the continuation on a new medium. Six months after Clark Kent donned the cape and took to the skies to save Earth from Apokolips … enter Season 11,” he said in a statement. The first “episode” of the new entry in the Smallville universe will be

Microsoft Store locations no longer taking Lumia 900 pre-orders

Image
Microsoft is so pleased with its new Nokia partnership that it began taking pre-orders for the Nokia Lumia 900 at its retail locations last week, even though there hasn’t been a release date announced for the phone. However, the pre-order process has come to an end, and it’s unclear if this is because of high demand or if the company decided to pull out of the process for some other reason. Like, perhaps, because it wanted to actually have a release date to give to customers. Theverge.com, which reported on the halt of Lumia 900 pre-orders, said users will see information on the official Microsoft Store Facebook page regarding updates on the phone. The Lumia 900 follows on the heels of the successful Lumia 710, though this time it will be slightly more powerful, slightly more expensive, and available at AT&T instead of T-Mobile. Nokia has managed to garner a fair amount of atte Publish Post ntion since it launched the Lumia 710 in the US last month. It was a confirmation that the c

Nielsen study finds 56% of US households have Xbox 360, PS3 or Wii

Image
Remember the days when you and a group of friends all had to go to the same house because only one of you had a video game console? And if you were lucky enough to be that one friend, you never had to worry about losing your popularity. Now, however, it’s a much different story. If you don’t have a modern game platform, you’re now in the minority. So says the latest study from customer research giant Nielsen. The group found that only 44% of US households are completely devoid of the current round of consoles, all of which have been on the market for more than five years. The Xbox 360 has been available since 2005. Because of the longer console life cycle, it’s possible for budget-conscious and non-gamer consumers to come in late in the process and still have the most up-to-date console available. According to Nielsen, overall gaming activity increased by 7%, a number that also included smartphone and tablet games. That is what the company sees as a potential major trend for 2012. It a

Yahoo’s CORE makes news hyper personal

Image
Yahoo is offering a way for users to check out the news that’s most relevant to them not based on the category of content or type of publication but based on where they live, what their gender is, and how old they are. It’s called the Content Optimization and Relevance Engine, or CORE. The powerful algorithms shed insight not only to what other people like you are watching, but also what kind of information advertisers look at when they target you. Yes, the CORE platform is also used by Yahoo as an advertising tool for those who want to provide relevant sponsored content to Web browsers. Even though people seem to think anything associated with advertising is evil, since Yahoo launched CORE on the homepage, its clickthrough rates have increased 300%, which definitely fits the bill of statistical significance. A few other interesting points Yahoo mentioned are that CORE processes 1.2 terabytes of user data every hour. That’s the equivalent of 644 million printed pages. Every hour. And o

NOAA scraps Blackberry for iPhones, iPads

Image
The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), otherwise known as the federal agency filled with a bunch of weather nerds, has become the latest in a growing list of major organizations that have decided to cancel their Blackberry contracts. NOAA will instead start issuing corporate iPhones and iPads to its employees, according to an internal memo that has surfaced. So now, instead of toiling away on a smartphone interface that still has roots in the early 2000s, NOAA will be equipped with a bunch of iOS-powered iPhone 4 handsets and iPad 2 tablets. This becomes yet another hole in the grave for Research in Motion as it continues to lose enormous enterprise-level contracts. It has happened both in the public and private sectors. Among the groups that have abandoned Blackberry are Citi, Bank of America, and Halliburton. RIM used to have a mindset that it was too big to fail, and that even if it wasn’t able to meet the technological advancements of the iPhone and Android,

Bioware’s Mass Effect 3 comes to iOS with Infiltrator

Image
The Mass Effect 3 bandwagon is making its way to the iPad, bringing the larger-than-life sci-fi world to a 10-inch device you can take with you on-the-go. It is a special, exclusive installment in the Mass Effect storyline available only for the portable platform and its name is Mass Effect Infiltrator. Unlike its console counterparts, this game is strictly a fighting game. That may come as a bit of a shock to those who are familiar with the rest of the franchise, which has become known for its over-the-shoulder perspective and shooting gameplay controls. But for those who get used to the new gameplay, this is pretty cool – if you collect items and other content in Infiltrator, you’ll be able to access it if you have the console version of Mass Effect 3. The other thing that anyone familiar with the shooting-game series will know is that it’s known for having stellar graphics. It appears Infiltrator will try to replicate that, taking full advantage of the iPad’s capabilities and shrink

AT&T explains 2GB throttling of unlimited data plans

Image
AT&T had to explain its data throttling practices after news broke that some of its unlimited data customers were being slapped with slow data speeds after using only 2GB of data. The unlimited data plans were discontinued back in 2010, replaced by tiered plans, but some customers have been grandfathered in. AT&T then announced a new throttling policy that began last October, but said the change would only affect the top five percent of its heaviest data users. The NY Times says that John Cozen is among the first of AT&T’s unlimited data customers to have reported receiving notice of throttled data speeds, despite having used only 2.1 GB of data. He received an email from AT&T that claimed he was in the top five percent of heavy data users and hence would be throttled until his next billing period. Cozen argued that it was unfair since his unlimited data plan cost the same as a tiered data plan that offered 3GB of data usage per month. However, AT&T spokesman Mark S

House of Marley Bag of Rhythm up for sale now

Image
If you attended CES 2012, you very well may have happened upon this delightful device being carried around by members of the House of Marley: the Bag of Rhythm. This harvest-colored beast is essentially a boom box that works natively with your iPod Touch and iPhone, has an Aux input to connect to essentially any other small media device, and strings over your shoulder to blast beats right up into the atmosphere. This sack and wood-housed set of speakers has the look and materials of a modern day block rocker – and it’s officially on sale today! Essentially everything about this monster is recycled or recyclable – not that you’d ever want to recycle such a lovely amalgamation – and is made to give you a unique experience as well as vision. Apple may release 7-inch iPad later this year

Image
Following an insider tip this morning that Apple’s iPad 3 could launch in the first week of March, analyst Erza Gottheil of Technology Business Research adds that a 7-inch version may arrive sometime later this year. Gottheil dismisses some other rumors surrounding the next-gen iPad, but affirms the smaller model, Siri integration, and a wireless keyboard-case accessory. Gottheil dismissed rumors that the iPad 3 will have a quad-core processor due to the power requirements, believing instead that Apple may introduce a new A6 processor that’s a faster dual-core chip. However, he feels certain that the next-gen iPad will sport a high-resolution screen similar to the iPhone’s Retina display. In more predictions, Gottheil believes that the next-gen iPad will integrate Siri and that the iPad 2 will get a price reduction to around $400 for the 16GB WiFi-only version. Despite Steve Jobs’ previous objections to a smaller 7-inch form factor, Gottheil says that a smaller iPad has always been par

Google Home Entertainment System as home cloud of media

Image
A new set of tips have come through WSJ’s author Amir Efrati on what Google will soon be presenting for families across the earth: a Google Home Entertainment System. We’ve previously heard about this system and hypothesized that it could be the Android@Home we heard about at Google I/O 2011. What we saw back then and what’s being tipped today seems to line up fairly well: a home-based system of devices that connect with your media to bring you one immersive experience, based on Android as an operating system that makes it all run. If you’ll take a look at that faithful post from last week, you’ll find that we had NFC devices, Wifi, and Android tablets and smartphones blasting forth with controls for the whole home. What we’re seeing here instead is a tip that says this Entertainment System will be, at least in part, just for media streaming. The tip coming through today says that Google would have people download digital media “such as music” and stream it to Google-made speakers as w

TiVo HD DVRs for DirecTV now available nationwide

Image
After being released in only select markets, the TiVo-enabled HD DVR from DirecTV is now available nationwide. The set-top was set to launch in 2009 following the reconciliation of TiVo and DirecTV back in 2008, but has been delayed until last December, when it launched in only 10 markets. The TiVo HD DVR combines the TiVo service with DirecTV’s HD content in a seamless interface along with TiVo’s unique peanut remote and Swivel Search feature. It allows users to easily set Season Pass Recordings, create WishList Searches, get TiVo show suggestions, record up to 100 hours of HD programming, and record two shows at once. Users can access more than 7,000 on-demand movies and shows from both HD shows and movies from DirecTV Cinema. The set-top box costs $199, but an additional $5 per month TiVo service fee is required along with a $10 HD Access fee and a $7 DVR fee.

Steve Jobs FBI file pulled with Freedom of Information Act

Image
There’s quite a bit of hubub about the Steve Jobs FBI file that’s been put up for download by any man, woman, or child who would dare read it today, but not a whole lot of people speaking about how it came to us all now, of all times. What’s going on here is that the FBI was vetting Jobs for a tech job with the President – a Bush at the time. The result of this interview process was a set of papers with interviews of colleagues of Jobs speaking highly and in some cases not so highly of his character – this packet of papers is now available for download thanks to the Freedom of Information Act and a fellow by the name of Michael Morisy. Those of you looking for the file do download, you can head on over to FBI.gov and grab a copy for yourself – load it on up to your reader tablet! Then check it out – with the tool known as MuckRock and some well written paragraphs addressed to the FBI, mister Michael Morisy was able to request the file in question with only one initial letter and a few

MegaUpload’s takedown by the numbers

Image
Believe it or not, it was and is possible to track the traffic that MegaUpload and the rest of the piracy-laden file-sharing groups out there have compared to the rest of the web. A series of studies have been conducted by a few sources we’re checking out today and the results are staggering, depending on how you look at it, with the first giant being the one hour following the January 19th raid of MegaUpload. In that one hour, the entirety of the Internet lost between 2 and 3 precent of its total volume in traffic. This first statistic comes from a report from DeepField Networks called File Sharing in the Post MegaUpload Era. This same study had MegaUpload downloads representing no less than 30-40% of all file sharing on the internet. As MegaUpload’s own MegaVideo and the other biggest sharer of files after that, Filesonic, both shuttered their doors effectively on January 18th, their percentages (34.1% for Mega and 19.1% for Filesonic, if you’d like to know) were distributed amongst

Microsoft confirms Windows 8 ARM desktop support, previews Metro-styled Office 15

Image
Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 8 for ARM-based devices will support full desktop applications followingconcerns that only Metro apps would be supported. Via the Buildings Windows 8 blog, Microsoft’s Steven Sinofsky further detailed Windows 8 for ARM and previewed a Metro-styled Office 15. Users of the ARM-based Windows 8 will still be able to access the conventional desktop file system, Internet Explorer 10, and most other core features that are available to the x86 version of Windows 8. However, Windows 8 on ARM will not be sold separately and will be tightly integrated with the devices they ship on. Also, there will be a limitation on the apps available for it from the Windows Store. Microsoft also revealed beta copies of its Office 15 applications in a preview video, including revamped Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. Office 15 appears more Metro-styled with more white space and less lines along with touch and power optimizations, although it will be run in the convention

President Obama posts his Spotify 2012 Campaign Playlist

Image
As the 2012 election season for the President of the United States comes down upon is in a hailstorm of advertisements and pushes to do the right thing, so too do the brand collaborations begin – right here with Spotify. Though we’ve already seen the President go on Google+ to do a fireside chat after his State of the Union address just a few days ago, this is the first real place, I’d say, we’re seeing Obama really jam on the youth-tip to get back in touch with the citizens of the United States so they can vote for him in 2012. While Barack Obama has never been one to get too far away from this environment, you’re going to see one whole heck of a lot more of this tech-related business as the elections come up – what better way to start than with some Spotify music? The President has chosen to use everyone’s current favorite service for hosting free to listen to and fee to stream Spotify, here sending out his musical love with links directly to the songs themselves. What better way to

Acer Aspire S3 (Core i7) Review

Image
The Ultrabook world is continuing its rise to glory as the Acer Aspire S3 (here with the Core i7 processer inside) runs the thin show at .68 inches at its thickest point. This is by no means the thinnest notebook on earth, nor is it the Ultrabook with the most impressive set of specifications, but this relatively basic (if any Ultrabook is basic) model has a stack of features and a full package that will satisfy any general use owner. This notebook has a 13.3-inch Active Matrix TFT display at 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, CineCrystal (glossy) and clear as day coupled with Intel HD Graphics 3000 and Dolby Home Theater v4 audio enhancement on built-in stereo speakers – that means good entertainment. Hardware For those of you wondering, this device goes by the code S3-951-6432. You’ll find that the display has a perfectly bright and sharp widescreen view for your gaming, processing, and video viewing needs, but beware the glossiness of the display if you’re planning on using this laptop ou

Lenovo V370 promotions begin with Bruce Lee, Angry Birds, and Zombies

Image
Behold the first absolutely wacky advertisement spot for the Lenovo slim notebook V370, complete with no less than Plants vs Zombies characters, Angry Birds, and an epic battle to the death with Bruce Lee! The point this particular spot appears to be trying to get across is that the V370 is both strong and slim, but you wouldn’t know it was a commercial for a laptop if you didn’t see the first and last 5 seconds of the video. Thus is the way laptops must be promoted in the fact of Ultrabooks, we suppose, now that strength beats down the traditional size and shape of a standard laptop. This video has a young lady reading a comic book on your V370 for a couple of panels, decidedly shaking her head at the absurdity of the situations she’s taking in. Once she folds the notebook up and walks through her workspace to head home, she runs into a pack of zombies as well as a an evil bossman, all of them comical enough to make any television watcher turn their head and pay attention. Then all ma

Raspberry Pi $25 computer set for February 20th release

Image
This little monster you see before you is essentially all you’ll need to roll out on a couple of tens and a fiver – a computer for just $25. This is the Raspberry Pi, and after months and years of speaking about it behind the scenes, it’s finally set to be released on the 20th of February. This device was originally supposed to be going on sale in December of 2011, but has now been officially announced by the creators to be coming out on the date announced, right here in the second month of 2012. The Raspberry Pi $25 PC is essentially a computer motherboard with a low-powered ARM-based processor by the name of Broadcom BCM2835 and a cute set of connections around the Raspberry Pi logo printed on the board near the center. You’ll be running Linux-based software right out of the box and is set to be aimed at education groups, hobby computer builders, and those looking for the cheapest computer on the block. There will be two versions of this device when its released – the basic build for

Temple Run for Android postponed, still coming this month

Image
The game that’s still got iOS fans having heart attacks over how awesome it is, Temple Run, was originally scheduled to be dropped for Android today, but its developers have let us know that a bit of postponing is in order. Though we and the developers at Image Studios are hoping to get in on the game for a full release by the end of the month, it’s likely not going to happen this week. Those of you on the iPhone version of this game can continue swinging in glee as your Android compatriots wait for some awesome temple running pleasure for just a few more days or weeks or forever more. Android Temple Run fans should take note that once speaking with the official crew behind the game we’ve discovered that the original March 9th date was never an official marker for the game to come out, only aguesstimation mostly passed on as a rumor. The postponing of this game’s release isn’t so much an error or a fix as it is a simple reality: the game was not necessarily going to come out today anyw

Tesla Model X SUV teaser easter egg revealed
