Teen Patti Music Review

Image
A situational soundtrack set in an out and out Western mood is what one expects from Teen Patti which has composer duo of Salim-Sulaiman coming together with lyricist Irfan Siddiqui. Though director Leena Yadav's last film Shabd had indeed boasted of a few good tracks by Vishal-Shekhar, there was more scope of coming up with commercially viable songs due to the romantic theme of the Sanjay Dutt-Aishwarya Rai-Zayed Khan starrer. Not that a plot driven film like Teen Patti can't be expected to have good music but then the job is only a little more difficult, unless a film has a film maker like Sanjay Gupta at the helm of affairs. This is the reason why one keeps expectations in check before playing on Teen Patti . 'Neeyat' is the song of seduction that marks the beginning of Teen Patti . Sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, the song surprisingly reminds of lesser heard ' Khatti Meethi ' ( Acid Factory ) which was rendered by Manasi Scott. The similarity lies in the theme

The reaction to Give Me Some Sunshine is "mindblowingly beyond imagination" - Suraj Jagan

Image
The reaction to his song Give me some sunshine from 3 Idiots is "mindblowingly beyond imagination," says Suraj Jagan, who finds himself suddenly in demand for both live shows as well as films The boy from Kerala feels vindicated, and is especially happy that the song that has really made him is Give me some sunshine from 3 Idiots. "When a boy from Kerala decides that rock music in English and Hindi is going to be his livelihood, he is taken to be an idiot! So with 3 Idiots, I have proved that I am actually not one!" A recent award, he tells you, is the icing on the cake. Suraj Jagan reveals how his song was singled out by Aamir Khan no less as a musical dark horse from the score. "He always believed in the song and said that it will connect with the youth. The thrust of the music promotion was obviously on All is well and Zooby dooby, but at the music release itself, I sensed that this song will be a hit on its own!" The singer however admits that the sc

Mumbai theatres attacked; warned not to screen MNIK

They say that Promises are meant to be broken, a statement that holds immense water in the field of politics. However, the party workers yesterday attacked three theatres in Mumbai (Shreyas Theatre-Ghatkopar, Mehul Talkies-Mulund, and Metro Big Cinemas-Dhobi Talao), that will be screening the Karan Johar directed MNIK . Bollywood Hungama has also got the oven-fresh news that Cinemax Cinemas have stopped advance bookings for the film, directed by Karan Johar which releases on Friday. Leaves of all Mumbai policemen have been cancelled in order to ensure the smooth proceedings of the shows. The security cover at the single screen theatres as well as the multiplexes have been more than

Image
The day after Akshay landed in Mumbai after his back treatment he was doing some of the most dangerous stunts affordable to a star. Before he left for his back treatment, Akshay Kumar was unsure if he could ever return to normal health-related activities that he liked, let alone action sequences. In fact, Vipul Shah's action-laden climax for Action Replayy which was to be shot after Akshay's return, was seriously jeopardized. But after the hydro- therapy that he underwent in Germany last week, Akshay Kumar returned to work, more confident than ever before, ready and eager to shoot heart-stopping stunts for Action Replayy . When Vipul offered to change the climax, Akshay laughed and told him to stick to the original plan. Not only was Akshay seen hanging from cables doing stunts and flying through the air, he even cajoled his co-star Kirron Kher to try the aerial stunts. Balasahab, Udhav have misconstrued my words: SRK

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is extremely upset that Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray and his son Udhav Thackeray 'misconstrued' his comments and are now protesting against the release of his film 'My Name Is Khan'. '(I) feel awful that Balasahib and Udhav have misconstrued my words. The reactions of the Sena workers seem to make me believe that. Don't want mayhem, anger and violence cos of our beautiful film...which talks about repairing a bruised and divided world,' Shah Rukh posted on microblogging site Twitter. 'I may not have the same ideologies as the Sena, but on the question of me being a patriot, I don't think there should be any confusion,' he added. The actor, who has been under attack from the Shiv Sena for his comment on the inclusion of Pakistani players in the Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 cricket tournament, is taking help of the social networking site to clarify his stance once and for all - so that his movie releas

Bips is thrilled to smithereens. The dusky belle will enact a character modelled along the lines of Zeenat Aman 's flower child role in 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna'. Bips will essay a glam junkie from Goa who gets tangled with Telugu star Rana Daggubati in Rohan Sippy's 'Dum Maro Dum'. "Zeenat Aman is my all time favourite," gushes Bips in a tabloid chat. "I hold her in high esteem and there can be no one like her." Crippled Hrithik! Magnetic Relief At Santa Fe…

Image
He's on a great footing in cinedom. Hrithik Roshan , now flying high on the pre release buzz of 'Kites', has put his best foot forward together with Mexican babe Barbara Mori. The tension packed release of 'My Name Is Khan' will also unveil the "first look" of the Roshan home production. "I was suffering because of my knee problem. I was crippled for about six months and was on crutches." The perfectionist performer was all set to decline the offer, but director Anurag Basu and his filmmaker father would hear nothing of it. Besides, she continued to be a part of Dev saab's subsequent films like 'Lootmaar' and 'Man Pasand'. Tina was also featured in some interesting projects such as Basu Chatterjee's 'Baaton Baaton Mein' wh

Security measures, Police, CCTVs, To Track 'Khan' cinegoers….

Advance booking has assumed a current flavor. 'My Name Is Khan' faced an enduring round of communal ire in Mumbai with Sena activists defacing the flick's posters, ripping screens and bringing the advance booking of 'MNIK' to a grinding halt. Later, certain theatres resumed the advance booking under the cover of strict police protection. But trouble has escalated further. Reportedly, Shah Rukh Khan was all set to meet Sena supremo Bal Thackeray and thrash out differences. But it's being alleged that the 'Sarkar', er, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan ( Ram Gopal Varma , fortunately, is nowhere in this 'Rann'ing) swatted the step instantly by mediating in this imbroglio. Come Feb 12, CCTVs at select cinemas, stringent security measures and police teams deployed at every theatre screening 'MNIK' will embrace movie patrons. Shah Rukh Khan, pleasantly gleeful post the Abu Dhabi world premiere of 'MNIK', told a quote hungry media, "I

Image
STRIKER may have proved a damp squib at the box-office, but Studio 18 is thrilled at the response the film has garnered on You Tube. The film was premiered on the net the same day it was released theatrically in India. A nominal fee [$ 4.99] was charged for viewers in U.S., while viewers across the globe [except India] got to watch the film for free. The revenue was generated via ad support on You Tube. "Till Monday evening, the film had been viewed by around 2.25 lac viewers across the globe. Frankly, we didn't expect the film to generate such enthusiasm, but the numbers have brought cheer," Hemant Bhardwaj of Studio 18 confirms. Bhardwaj is not in a position to state the kind of revenue the film has generated on You Tube. "We should get to know the exact numbers by the month-end. It's a first for us and the first for You Tube too," he states. The strategy could pave for additional revenue for film-makers/studios. "That's right! A film like ISHQIYA

Clint Eastwood doesn't regret turning down 007 role

Legendary actor Clint Eastwood has revealed that he has no regrets about turning down the role of James Bond, as he believes the 007 agent should be played by a British actor. "I thought James Bond should be British. I am of British descent but by that same token, I thought that it should be more of the culture there and also, it was not my thing," the Daily Express quoted him as saying. India celebrities add glitz to tiger conservation

Image
1,411 -- that's the number on the lips of Indian celebrities fronting a new campaign to save tigers which was launched ahead of the Chinese lunar Year of the Tiger -- a time some conservationists fear will lead to a spike in demand for the endangered animal's body parts. "Just 1,411 left. You can make a difference," is the message being broadcast on everything from TV adverts, Facebook and YouTube, in what organisers say is India's biggest ever campaign to conserve the dwindling numbers of its national animal. Since January, the environmental group WWF India has spearheaded a public awareness campaign, led by the Indian cricket and football captains, which has received close to 100,000 pledges of support on its website. Poaching and loss of habitat have caused tiger numbers to plunge from around 40,000 at the turn of the 20th century in India, a country with patchy environmental awareness and uneven local governance needed for an effective crackdown on poache

On SRK, Raj accuses Sena of 'double standards'

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray Thursday accused the Shiv Sena of 'double standards' for ignoring Amitabh Bachchan for sharing the dais with Pakistani artistes while targeting his Bollywood peer Shah Rukh Khan . 'They are demanding an apology from Khan for his remarks on Pakistani players. But Bachchan was seen a couple of days ago sharing the dais with Pakistani artistes and reciting poems. If Khan has to apologise, then why not Bachchan,' Raj Thackeray asked at a press conference here. He said Bachchan had earlier rejected a doctorate from an Australian university for the race attacks on Indians there but had shared a dais with artistes from Pakistan, which harboured terrorists who attacked Mumbai. But the MNS chief added: 'However, we are not demanding that Bachchan should tender an apology nor shall we agitate against him.' The estranged nephew of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray pointed out that Bachchan had close family ties wit

Mere paas maa hai

For decades now, mums have played a significant role in Bollywood, both on screen and off it. Jaya Chakravarty moulded daughter Hema Malini into the 'Dream Girl' of the swinging '70s. Babita made Karisma Kapur the numero uno actress in her time. Rani Mukherji's mother, Krishna, too, is believed to have played an important role in chalking out her career. Some of these mammas were actresses themselves; for others, it was alien territory. Yet, they negotiated the strange twists and turns as they accompanied their daughters on a journey to stardom. Four star mums - Madhu Chopra, Sunanda Shetty, Sarasvathy Balan and Kanchan Rao, mothers of actresses Priyanka Chopra, Shilpa Shetty, Vidya Balan and Amrita Rao, respectively - speak about their special roles. Madhu Chopra When Priyanka had to come down to Mumbai for the Miss India contest, my husband agreed only on the condition that I accompany her.
