On April 7, Katrina Kaif recorded an album of nursery rhymes for the music company Sa Ra Ga Ma. The entire earnings from the album would be used to build a school for toddlers in Madurai. This is the first time in her life that Katrina has sung professionally. And according to music-company sources she has done a commendable job. There are now plans for Katrina to do an album of love songs. Exhausted but content, Katrina says, "It's a fun album for kids, something I always wanted to do, to deepen my connectivity with kids. I had a ball recording the numbers. I haven't laughed so much for a very long time." What Katrina won't say out loud is that the inspiration for the children's album is her 3-year old niece Maya, her eldest sister's child with whom Katrina has developed an indelible bond. Maya whom Katrina acknowledges as the most important person in her life, is indeed the inspiration for the kids' album and the actress' desire to hel

Housefull Movie Review

Image
At the very start of the film, Sajid Khan pays his respects to several notable names of the 1970s and 1980s, who redefined Hindi commercial cinema. And that gives you ample idea of what to expect from HOUSEFULL, which, very frankly, stresses on wholesome entertainment like those wonderful entertainers made by Manmohan Desai, Prakash Mehra, Feroz Khan, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, K. Raghavendra Rao, Narendra Bedi, Ravi Tandon and Brij. No wonder, films made by these icons have tremendous recall value even today. The two things you expect from HOUSEFULL are non-stop laughter and non-stop entertainment. That's because the promos of the film have already given you an inkling of what to expect from this film. Besides, Sajid Khan swears by wholesome entertainers, so it's only natural to expect HOUSEFULL to bring the house down. We loved Manmohan Desai and Prakash Mehra's movies because they transported us to a world of make believe, into a fantasy world, keeping us thoroug

Chase Movie Review

Image
A DHOOM clicks and you suddenly spot Hayabusas speeding away in every third Hindi movie. A RACE clicks and everyone wants to attempt a thriller, with twists-n-turns aplenty. CHASE is no DHOOM, nor is it RACE either, but there's a feeling of déjà vu nonetheless. CHASE begins with a high-octane chase and what follows are several twists-n-turns, before the jigsaw puzzle is solved. But the question is, does CHASE provide those adrenaline-pumping moments? Nope, it doesn't! The problem is, the writing relies too heavily on the tried-n-tested stuff, which robs this thriller of those thrilling moments. Final word? CHASE is akin to soda. Opens with a lot of fizz, but falls flat thereafter! Sohail [Anuuj Saxena] is a man on the run. DIG Ranveer [Rajesh Khattar] has vested interest in getting to the bottom of a murder in which Sohail is involved. Insp. Siddharth [Samir Kochhar] is the right hand of the DIG, who is monitoring Sohail's actions. Enter Nupur [Udita Goswami],
