Christina Hendricks Talks Season 5 of Mad Men

Last week Mad Men star Jon Hamm talked about the future of the show and about the issues that have delayed the production of season 5. We now have Christina Hendricks talking to Parade about this extended hiatus, what she knows about the coming season and what projects she has been involved in during the break. In regards to the contract negotiations that has led to Mad Men not due to hit our screens till 2012, Hendricks was certain that during this turbulent time that everything would work out for the best and that the show would return. Whilst she didn't get in to specifics, Hendricks certainly seems supportive of her boss and creator of Mad Men, Matthew Weiner saying of him and the situation that: "He's very passionate about it and really held firm to what he wanted and what was best for the show. There wouldn't be a show without him, so I knew it was going to work out. It just took a little while." Hendricks also spoke about this when she participated i

Jackass Star Dead in Car Crash

Image
A bit of sad news for you all today; when you woke up this morning, the world had one less Jackass. Ryan Dunn, star of MTV's hit television series Jackass and later the trilogy of films with the same title, died in a car crash Monday morning at around 3 a.m., TMZ is reporting . Dunn's death, as well as that of another passenger in the car, have been confirmed by the mother of Dunn's Jackass costar Bam Margera. The thirty-four-year-old Dunn had reportedly been drinking earlier that evening. Dunn appeared in a number of Jackass sketches, most notably one in which he inserted a toy car into his anus (and later had it x-rayed by a confused doctor). He also participated in what's sometimes called the most disgusting Jackass stunt: he jumped into a tank of raw sewage for a swim. Dunn also made appearances on MTV's series Viva La Bam and Bam's Unholy Union (both starring Margera), and earlier this year made an appearance on MTV's game show Minute to Win It.

New True Blood Promo: What Can We Expect in Season 4?

Image
Last night HBO aired another new promo for  True Blood  season 4, focusing on vampire/human relations after the Russell Edgington (Denis O' Hare) rampage, what the addition of witches implies and why everyone is still so interested in Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin). So what does this promo tell us about the new season which is now less than a week away? And what questions does it prompt us to ask? Join us as we dissect this latest treat from HBO and watch the promo below. What we know: Vampire and human relations are not great (to put it mildly), after Russell Edgington ripped out a news anchors spine live on air, it is perhaps understandable as to why humans are more than cautious regarding their safety around these supernatural beings that are much stronger, faster and deadlier. Fangtasia isn't a safe haven for vampires as human protesters gather outside. It looks like Hoyt (Jim Parrack) may be on the receiving end of a beating due to his allegiance to Jessica (Deborah Ann

The Real Housewives of New Jersey: Changes - For Better and Worse

Image
This week's Real Housewives of New Jersey narrowed its focus on two storylines this week and guess which one took precedence of the entire night. The sibling rivalry between Teresa Giudice and her brother Joey Gorga reached a new mile marker as the two finally sat down and had a 'discussion' about the issues between them. While Joey blames Teresa for instigating a competition between himself and Teresa's husband Joe that blew out of control, Teresa felt that Melissa was guilty for starting drama and went as far as suggesting Melissa was a "gold digger" to prove her point. Of course she didn't relay that to Joey's face, because Lord knows how much hell would've been unleashed in that restaurant. Despite the back and forth on who was in the wrong and who should apologize first, at least the siblings decided to try to squash all the drama for the sakes of their kids and parents. However, Joey felt that Teresa should talk to Teresa and their moth

LOST's Evangeline Lilly Cast in The Hobbit

Image
Just a day after we posted the news of Benedict Cumberbatch being cast in The Hobbit , yet another familiar face has been cast in the fantasy epic. LOST star Evangeline Lilly has been cast in the two-part Lord of the Rings prequel as an elf. The casting of Lilly, famous for playing the mysterious fugitive castaway Kate Austen on the mystery drama LOST from 2004 to 2010, was announced on Sunday by Hobbit director Peter Jackson, via his Facebook page. Lilly will be playing the character Tauriel, a character who did not appear in the book, but whose name apparently means "daughter of Mirkwood," according to Jackson. Judging by this, it looks likely that she'll be appearing in the first film of the series, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, in which Mirkwood will likely be prominent. Alongside actress Cate Blanchett, who plays the elf Galadriel, Lilly is one of two females to be cast in the film. That's two more female characters than the film's source material

Toshiba outs new Satellite L750 laptop

Image
Toshiba has been trotting out a few new laptops this month with some cool features. The L700 was one of the notebooks that were unveiled earlier this week along with several others. Toshiba also has a new L750 laptop series that slots into its Satellite line of consumer machines. The new notebook has a cool design and comes in more than one color. The CPU inside the machine is an AMD A6-series and graphics come by way of ATI Mobility Radeon GPUs. The L750 has a 15.6-inch screen using Toshiba TruBrite HD technology and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The keyboard has a ten key number pad as well. Other features include the Toshiba Eco utility to increase the battery life of the machine and a PC Health monitor. Toshiba ReelTime is integrated to help you find your media faster. The notebook is finished in the Fusion Matrix Pattern with a little grid work of lines in several colors. I really like the red version, it looks really cool. Toshiba will fit the notebook with a range of RAM and storage op

Nokia N9 and NFC Nokia Play 360 speaker hands-on

Image
The Nokia N9 joins one of the relatively rare groups of smartphones with NFC built in, and rather than worthy-but-dull applications like wireless payments, the company is using it for easy accessory pairing. The new Nokia Play 360 speakers use Bluetooth A2DP for their wireless connection, but pair with the N9 using NFC. Check out our demo after the cut. S

Japan starts work on new faster 313 MPH maglev train

Image
In most of the US, we make little use of trains as a system of mass transport. In some major cities trains and subways get people to and from the office and home, but with the spread out arrangement of many cities and the lack of a rail infrastructure most of us use personal vehicles or busses for transport. Japan has had the seriously cool and fast maglev train system that we generally call bullet trains for a long time now. The current trains have a top speed of about 150 MPH. Maglev trains if you aren’t familiar use superconducting magnets on the train and coils under the tracks to levitate the train and allow it to travel with much less friction at much higher speeds. Japan has given the go ahead to Central Japan Railway to start construction on a new maglev train system that will have a top speed more than twice that of the current lines at 313 MPH. The new super high-speed trains will connect Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. The project has a massive price tag of 9 trillion yen. Apparen

Nokia N9 hands-on

Image
Nokia has managed to grab the news cycle again, and this time around it’s not with talk of delays or dreary share prices. The Nokia N9 may be the only MeeGo device expected to launch this year, but then again Apple made a pretty decent splash with one model every twelve months. Does MeeGo and the slender N9 have what it takes? We’ve been playing with the smartphone today, so head on past the cut for all the hands-on details.

Nokia unveils new accessories for its smartphones

Image
Nokia has pulled the wraps off several new accessories for its line of smartphones today. One of the accessories is the new charger for the Nokia N9, but it should work with any Nokia device that charges with a micro-USB charger. The charger is called the Nokia Fast USB Charger AC-16. It has a detachable charging cable and it is the same charger that ships with the N9 for people that need a second charger. Nokia has also rolled out several new Bluetooth devices.

New AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule details emerge, launch imminent

Image
Earlier this month I mentioned that the AirPort utility update had revealed the new Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme were inbound with mention of the new products in the new software update. New details of the updated products have now landed thanks to a mystery source over at 9to5Mac. The new details include part numbers and storage capacities for Time Capsule devices. We still don’t know for sure when they will land and what they will cost, but the launch is said to be soon. According to the source, the new Airport Extreme will come in only one configuration. The Time Capsule network storage devices will come in a 2TB configuration that has been around in the previous models and will get a new 3TB version of the first time to expand the storage for those needing more. Interestingly all three of the products will get price breaks compared to the older hardware. I would not be happy about recently buying a Time Capsule or AirPort Extreme right about now. It’s worth a note that 9to5Mac

Android 3.2 Honeycomb update in “next few weeks”; Huawei MediaPad tipped for August

Image
Huawei’s new MediaPad tablet was billed as the world’s first Android 3.2 Honeycomb device, though the company neglected to confirm exactly when it – and the updated version of Android – might arrive. According to This is my next‘s sources, however, the refreshed Honeycomb is expected to hit existing slates like the Motorola XOOM within the “next few weeks” while the MediaPad – and other 7-inch Android 3.2 tablets – should arrive in August. Version 3.2, the sources suggest, is the last Honeycomb build before Google launches Ice Cream Sandwich. That – officially unveiled at Google I/O earlier this year – will harmonize the currently separate strands of Android for phones, tablets and Google TV. As for what we can expect from Android 3.2 Honeycomb, as well as supporting a range of display sizes, including the 7-inch panels of the MediaPad, ViewSonic’s ViewPad 7x and the Acer Iconia Tab A100, it will also apparently add support for Qualcomm processors. Until now, only Tegra 2 chips have be

Symbian Anna update for N8, E7, C7 and C6-01 by end of August

Image
Having frustrated existing Symbian users with the vague promise that the Anna update would arrive “in the coming months,” Nokia has now confirmed that the firmware will be available to download by the end of August 2011. It’ll be on offer to anybody with a Nokia N8, E7, C7 or C6-01; meanwhile, from July all four of those phones will begin shipping with Anna preinstalled. That follows the first two Anna devices, the Nokia X7 and E6, which began shipping at the end of May. Nokia’s decision to ship first and upgrade later met with no small amount of frustration from existing owners, who generally felt that the company should be taking care of loyal customers as its first priority. Among the changes Anna brings are a new set of icons, a split-screen view for typing, a portrait-orientation QWERTY keyboard, and a boosted version of Ovi Maps with public transportation routes and social networking integration. There’s also a refreshed version of the browser, apparently swifter and more stable.

DVD Review - Under the Hammer

Image
Under the Hammer is the British drama version of Pawn Stars. Each week, the people on Pawn Stars receive some pretty neat old stuff, but they have to know whether it's real or not. They call in experts to look at it, and usually they're able to tell if the object in question is legitimate and something they can sell. Under the Hammer (on DVD from Acorn Media 6/21) is much of the same story, except entirely fictional. Under the Hammer tells the stories of a few key figures in a British auction house. Both Ben Glazier (Richard Wilson) and Maggie Perowne (Jan Francis) work in the paintings department of the auction house. Ben obtains the paintings and makes sure they're not fakes, and Maggie auctions them off. There's a bit of a romance developing between the two, though Maggie tries to stifle it by being in a relationship with the delightful sleazeball Nick Roper (Michael Siberry, easily the most intriguing actor on the show). Of course, the art world is full of str

Keeping up with the Kardashians Season 6 Episode 2 (plus videos)

Image
On this week’s Keeping up with the Kardashians, “Kim Becomes a Stage Mom”, Kim pushes little sis Kendall too hard in the modeling world while Kris Jenner has a blow out with Scott and Kourtney over their house key. Check out the videos below. We don’t see much of Khloe in this episode except for in some disjointed scenes. In the opener, Khloe tries acupuncture to relieve stress. She has some needles stuck in her face and there is no follow up to this. In another weird scene, she and Lamar, with the help of Rob and Malika, flip their master bedroom mattress. Is that enough to satisfy Khloe and Lamar fans? Nope. Khloe does pop up later to try to talk some sense into Kris about the house key issue. Kendall, 15, has been modeling for a year and nearly kicks it up a notch when a photographer suggests she pursue runway modeling. Kendall isn’t crazy about the idea, but Kim tries to convince her she’s a real model, and not like Kim who is a personality model. Um, someone needs to remind

The Killing Showrunner Reveals Just When We'll Find Out Who Killed Rosie Larson

Image
The Killing had a pretty gripping storyline for its freshman season, which came to a close on Sunday night. Sure, it got a little sludgy near the middle, but it got through it and broke into a run for a fantastic finish. The series, which was recently renewed for a second season, however, did something unexpected: it didn't solve the mystery of who killed Rosie Larson. The case, which consumed all of the first season, was expected by many to be solved in the finale. Instead, all the finale supplied us with was more twists -- albeit, deliciously shocking twists. One of those? That Linden's partner Holder turned in false evidence against Seattle mayoral candidate Darren Richmond. While that'll certainly have repercussions into the next season, there's something else that fans are probably more concerned about: just when are we going to found out who killed Rosie? The answer you seek lies with The Killing's showrunner Veena Sud... and she's sharing! Talkin

Steampunk rotary smartphone combines grandma’s old phone with your touchscreen

Image
When I was a kid I had an old-fashioned rotary phone in my room because it was shaped like an airplane. It was cool. After I outgrew that airplane phone with the rotary propeller, I never had another phone that didn’t use buttons. My grandmother rocked that old-fashioned looking rotary phone for years though in one of the extra rooms in her house. The good thing about those rotary phones was no one could sneak in a phone call, you could hear the snick, snick, snick, sound of the dial turning all over the house. If you are into steampunk and miss the days of those rotary phones, but aren’t willing to give up your touchscreen this awesome prototype device is the perfect middle ground. The cool device has a touchscreen on one side that looks like any screen from devices we are familiar with. Since this is a concept, it’s not at all clear how the device would work. The only shot we have of the touchscreen on the back of the concept shows a contacts page. I suspect that the concept would ju
