Torture of Animals in China – Tiger, Elephant, Bear

Image
There are many media reports according to which Chinese Zoos and Safaris are following callous practices against animals. These practices involve violent training of animals to do stunts for the visitors who come to these Zoos and Safaris. All over the world, Zoos and Safaris are used for the study of animal life, but unfortunately, in China these places are mainly used for the entertainment of audiences by displaying the stunts done by the animals. These stunts are highly uncomfortable for these innocent animals. There are horrible stories of removal of teeth of Tigers and Lions. Elephants are beaten until they learn to stand on one leg and do headstand; bears are beaten, until they learn motorcycle riding. These animals are kept in dark confinements on concrete floors and they are not allowed to live their life in natural atmosphere. Most of these animals are secluded from the members of their own species; they have not any social life.

A former Israeli soldier posted photos on Facebook of herself in uniform smiling beside bound and blindfolded Palestinian prisoners, drawing sharp criticism Monday from the Israeli military and Palestinian officials. Israeli news websites and blogs showed two photographs of the woman. In one, she is sitting legs crossed beside a blindfolded Palestinian man who is slumped against a concrete barrier. His face is turned downwards, while she leans toward him with her face upturned. Another shows her smiling at the camera with three Palestinian men with bound hands and blindfolds behind her. The incident was a reminder of the fraught relations between Israeli soldiers and the West Bank Palestinians under their control. Israeli soldiers have run into trouble on the social media sites like Facebook and YouTube before. Most recently a group of combat soldiers were reprimanded for breaking into choreographed dance moves while on patrol in the West Bank town of Hebron. The dance featured pro

Miss Universe Body Paint Photos Stir Controversy

Image
This year, the Miss Universe pageant is using photos of contestants, including Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih, in nothing but body paint to promote the August 23 event, and it has one former pageant organizer crying foul. Angie Meyer, described as a "former pageant-organization worker," expressed her dismay with the photos to Fox News: "It's alarming that this has been turned into a Playboy-esque masquerade, she said. "By implementing topless photos as part of the pageant process, they're putting applicants in an extremely compromising position." The Miss Universe organization, which is co-run by the Trump Organization and NBC, says they arranged the Las Vegas photo shoot to celebrate the diversity of this year's contestants. In a statement to Yahoo!, Lark-Marie Anton, vice president of marketing and public relations for pageant, defended the promotion: "The contestants who compete at Miss Universe are diverse, as they represent more than 82 coun
