Shirish isn't worried about added costs for Akshay's Joker

Shirish KunderGuess this is one spend that the makers of Joker didn't quite see coming. In an endeavour to make their film bigger and better than the best, Shirish Kunder and Farah Khan haven't shied away from giving their fantasy flick the best of the treatment. However, in the process of that happening, the film's budget has already shot up by Rs.3 crores. This when only two schedules have been wrapped up so far and the film is far away from being completed.

"Shirish is quite excited about Joker, rightly so since this is only his second film after Jaan-E-Mann and that too after five years. Moreover, since the film boasts of the kind of subject where he can afford to let his imagination go wild, he is looking for nothing but the best. However in the process of that happening for his Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha starrer, he has adopted the no-compromise approach", informs a source.

This can be evidenced from the fact that just the cost of the sets that have been erected so far has run into crores. It is a known fact that there was a huge set put up in Chandigarh followed by an entire forest that was recreated in Mumbai. However there are also added production costs attached to the daily spends.

"He and his wife Farah, for both of which this is just their second production after Tees Maar Khan, kept all of this in mind", informs a source, "However, when they did the interim checks, they realised that the film has gone over budget by Rs. 3 crores. They aren't shocked but have made a note of this for sure. More so because in months to come, VFX too would eat up majority of expenditure."

It was recently reported that Shirish is looking at taking the 3D special effects for his film to the next level since the technology is advancing rapidly. Since practically every second week there is a Hollywood 3D film hitting even the Indian screens, he knows that audience would be looking for something remarkable from Joker which also boasts of an alien element.

On contacted, Shirish is surprisingly chilled out about the entire situation and confirms that he isn't worried at all. "I don't think I should be talking about the film's budget and the actual spent now. Hypothetically speaking, even if there was indeed a deviation of 3-4 crores here or there then I won't mind that as it is acceptable in a big film like this. We aren't making a 10 crore film where such numbers turn out to be alarming. In the bigger scheme of things, such added expenditures are acceptable. Let's talk about the final costs when the film is ready for release", he says.

Sure Shirish, we would love to have that conversation for sure.
