Miley Naa Miley Hum Hindi Music Review
EXPECTATIONS
There are decent expectations from the music of Miley Naa Miley Hum. After all the film looks like a quintessential romantic entertainer, has a good look to it, comes with promise of some easy-on-ears melodies and has Sajid-Wajid as the composers with Javed Akhtar as the lyricist. With such a team, you do feel that the music would have something good to offer despite the fact that amongst actors it is only Kangna who is the most notable of them all.

Miley Naa Miley Hum begins on a positive note with 'Haan Yahi Pyaar Hai'. Okay, so it is clichéd, routine and predictable but these are the very factors that have ensured that Bollywood music continues to have its own identity for over 50 years. With the kind of sound that one does associate with a young melodious track, 'Haan Yahi Pyaar Hai' has Shaan and Shreya Ghoshal coming together to croon a lovey-dovey song that seldom fails. No, there isn't anything extraordinary in the song's presentation here but its flow is easy enough to warrant a good listening for those five minutes that go by.
The way 'Wake Up Now' begins, it is akin to a soothing alarm tune that would make a person come out of slumber. However 30 seconds down the line and there is an altogether different experience in store with the song taking a turn towards being a club dance number. Wajid decides to bring himself behind the mike and does a rather good job here along with Suzzane De Mello who gives him good company. On the same lines as 'Uff Teri Ada' [Karthik Calling Karthik], 'Wake Up Now' is a fast paced party song that has an even better middle portion where melody takes centre stage instead of rhythm.
From a love song and a club track, album gets into a different zone with an out and out massy track that has its eyes on the front benchers. The song in question is 'Katto Gilehri' which has Daler Mehndi and Mamta Sharma bringing on good enough energy to ensure that the actors/dancers on whom the song is picturised get really charged in front of the camera. Though it doesn't go the 'Munni'/'Sheila' mode, the song still comes close to the likes of 'Tinku Jiya' in terms of keeping the momentum up for the film's narrative.
In fact what is surprising is that the beginning of next song, 'Mahi Mahi', is exactly on the same lines as 'Tinku Jiya'! The song turns out to be quite different though and is actually a love song with Richa Sharma opening the proceedings with a rendition that is based on Punjabi folk. Presumably picturised on Neeru Bajwa (who is the other leading lady in the film) and Chirag Paswan (film's main lead), the song has a good pace to it and only goes on to become further entertaining during it's middle portion.
However what indeed turns out to be the song of the album is 'Nazar Se Nazar Mile' which is surprisingly the last to arrive in the album. In fact this is THE song that should have opened the campaign for Miley Naa Miley Hum which turns out to be a fairly good album after all. A quintessential love song that has all in it to succeed if promoted aggressively from this point on, 'Nazar Se Nazar Mile' is the kind of number that one associated with Nadeem-Shravan in their heydays. In fact it won't be wrong to say that the song has a similar style and setting as that of 'Don't Say Alvida' [Main Aurr Mrs Khanna] which continues to be ever-so-memorable till date. While Anupama Raag gives a good account of herself with a fresh new voice, she has someone as experienced as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to ensure that the song stays on to be charming enough. The song is repeated with Wajid and Abhilasha Chellam joining Anupama Raag and is in fact the only song that is heard twice (and rightly so).
OVERALL
Miley Naa Miley Hum is a good album that comes with good variety ranging from a couple of love songs (Nazar Se Nazar Mile, Haan Yahi Pyaar Hai), dance numbers - both desi (Mahi Mahi) and videsi (Wake Up Now) and an item track (Katto Gilehri). It is after a brief hiatus that Sajid-Wajid are heard again and Miley Naa Miley Hum makes sure that one is well entertained.
